Had a wonderful day. Tea in bed this morning with a few presents and cards. Then a couple of phone calls including one from my old boss who is now living in Australia.
Got the train up to London for lunch at the Alain Ducassse restaurant at the Dorchester which was wonderful. It's billed as three courses but with all the extras we got it was more like six courses. We finished with a great selection of sweets and chocolates which were far too much for us to eat so they gave us the leftovers in a doggy bag! :D
We then went to meet my daughter for a quick drink after she had finished work and got the train home again in time to have a Skype call with my son who is now in Bogotá. It was so nice to see him looking fit and well and very relaxed.
Apparently his media engagements are mounting. As well as the appearance in the Sun he has been on Brazilian TV twice - once on a bus going to watch a match at the fan park and once when he was interviewed about England's chances! And he has also seen a clip of himself on Russian TV. And I spotted him on YouTube on a boat on the Amazon in Manaus.

Lally's school decided to celebrate her birthday a day early with a half holiday, so I brought seven 15 year olds (or nearly 15 year olds in a few cases) back here at noon for a barbecue. Much fun was had, although possibly not by the neighbours if they wanted a quiet sit in the garden  , head chef Fernando and sous chef Kingsley did a splendid job. (Not to mention kitchen porter Giraffe :D )

Terrific! Reminds me of complicated cakes I used to try to produce for a similar age group (many) years ago ;)
Glad that a good time was had by all...... even by the slave by the sound of it!
