Well known phrases and sayings
Re: Well known phrases and sayings
Well I knew it would be easy, given that we had this one before.
What do you mean you forgot it already?
It was only in 2008!

Whereas I can't remember breakfast today.
I'm pretty sure it didn't involve root vegetables though and nobody was talking fancy.

Well, that's a relief!
I don't much fancy parsnips (buttered or plain) for breakfast. Your go.

I think of this one as:
T C C W T W S T S
(Or you could just stop after the first S)
but apparently a more common version of the saying is:
T C C H N S
T C C W T W S T S
(Or you could just stop after the first S)
but apparently a more common version of the saying is:
T C C H N S
Re: Well known phrases and sayings
It's interesting how there are different versions of what is basically the same saying, eg I always knew the previous one as Fine words rather than Fancy but the end result is pretty much the same.
Having said that I am currently stumped on the latest, whichever version I try to solve.

Re: Well known phrases and sayings
The important words are capitalised, and a bit of a hint included:
t C's C w t w S (t s)
t C's C h n S
This may again be a bit subjective. And of course the essence would be the same if the first C were an S. It would make the same sense if the second C were a K but that wouldn't resemble the "common" phrase. If it is "common" at all.

Re: Well known phrases and sayings
You could also change the first C to S and use the synonym to create essentially the same phrase.
Re: Well known phrases and sayings
The C or the alternative S are interchangeable as synonyms for a practioner of the same profession. Identifying which should make clear what the original S stands for.

C _ _ _ _ _ _ ' s / S _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ' s
Re: Well known phrases and sayings
Aha, that helped, I think! Of course I could be talking a load of C- - - - - - s!
