And there are half as many trains running tomorrow as normal Saturdays. So it will take 4 hours.

Re: The whinge thread
Took my engagement ring to be resized a couple of weeks ago. Was told it would be about a week, so was due back on 30/10/11 and they would ring me. Just rang to find out where my ring is as I was getting worried.
Shop: Oh yes it arrived on the 28th, and we rang you, but it was engaged.
Z: Well why didn't you ring again?
Shop: We only ring once to let people know.
Z: But you didn't let me know because the phone was engaged.
Shop: Well we couldn't leave a message because you were on the phone.

That's unbelievable!
Re: The whinge thread
I couldn't beleive it because when I left the ring with them (and paid in full) the manager dealt with us and he was lovely and helpful and I was really worried about being parted from my ring and he assured me that they would let me know as soon as it was in.
I told them I thought their customer service was rubbish and all the girl could say was that it wasn't her who had rung, as if that made it better. If they had left a message I could understand them saying that they only ring people once, but to not get through and assume I would know it was there just amazed me.

Re: The whinge thread
I'M HAVING A BAD DAY.
Please feel free to ignore this. It is a big rant.
Woke up late today because my alarm clock had decided to stop working. Ran around like headless chicken getting dressed to go down and find my son had finished all the milk (so no breakfast). Finally got to work to find my boss was having a bust up with someone about our office move we have to do before Christmas (just after I'd got everything where I needed it in the last one). First period, went in to find one year 7 in tears (missing his mum!!!!!!) and another falling out with someone. Said boy then proceeded to pour an entire bottle of universal indicator into the acid, and it spilled all over the table.
Next lesson, had a girl throwing a wobbly in the chemistry lab, and had to get her "fast actioned".
Left work early (using up some of the millions of hours I've built up) so that I could go to the opticians for attempt number 3 at contact lenses. Narrowly avoided taxi which tried to crash into the side of my car, tried to park in the town centre, to find someone had had an accident in the car park. Got to the opticians late, and still couldn't get the contact lenses in or out of my eyes. Succeeded in scratching my eyeball with my raggy nail. Went back to the car park, tried to buy a ticket, and all the change fell out of the bottom of my purse all over the floor. Drove to Tesco and spent absurd amounts of money but forgot to buy three key things I really needed. Got home to try to unpack said shopping, and dropped a bottle of fabric conditioner, which spilled into the cooker electronics. Had to get grumpy husband, who is in the process of trying to fit a shower in the chaos that was our bathroom, to stop what he's doing to pull out and dismantle the cooker, because the ignition spark was continuously snicking away. (I'd shorted out the mechanism). He pulled the cooker out (which, I am ashamed to say, was filthy down the sides where it is jammed inbetween the cupboards). Unfortunately, he didn't first move the clothes horse of washing, and succeeded in getting grease on Dibble's favourite sweatshirt. As I am trying to clean up the mess as he tries to fix the cooker, I become aware that the washing machine has stopped working too.

Oh bunny, definitely all three. What a horrible day.
You've made me feel an awful lot better about my day now.

Sounds horrid.
Tomorrow can only be better though, surely.

Bunny, look on the bright side
You have a home (whether it's faulty or perfect) and therefore you have shelter, you have a husband who tried to help so you are not on your own and you have children (favourite sweatshirts or not). Just sit down, have a lovely glass of wine and just chill

Re: The whinge thread
Yeah, I know I am very lucky really. I'm feeling a bit less explosive now I've got that lot off my chest!! Thank you for listening.
And said husband has now fixed the cooker, at least, and is now back bashing holes in the bathroom wall to fit the new shower. Who needs clean clothes as well...?
I am quite fed up about the contact lenses still though. I think I'll have to give up. And it's cost me £80 for all the consultations.

Re: The whinge thread
We didn't pay anything for the consultations for F's lenses. I think he just recoups the cost by selling you the lenses.
What a rip off!

Re: The whinge thread
I do have your sympathy - I couldn't bear to wear contact lenses. Anything to do with eyes just makes me cringe
Re: The whinge thread
I'm puzzling over that comment Redfraggle. Isn't it the wrong way round?
Having said that I could never fancy the idea of contact lenses but N wore them for over 40 years until he had laser surgery a few years ago.

I know what I meant but I said it back to front
It was the very mention of contact lenses. I can't even wear eye make-up!
