This morning I took F to the golf course to hit some balls on the driving range. As I pulled into the car park three really pretty little birds flew across in front of the car. I have just looked up what they probably were. They had really distinctive wings with huge yellow stripes and were about the size of a blue tit.

It says they are european goldfinches. I've never seen anything like them before.

Cool! :D
I've bin house clearing. I've generated, wait for it...
8 giant bin bags of rubbish
7 giant bin bags of paper to recycle
5 boxes of card to recycle
7 giant bags of stuff for charity shops
A giant box of records to go on E bay
3 bin bags full of plastics for recycling

And there's STILL loads of stuff to go. :x

I have also been organising stuff for Saturday... :D

Well, if anyone has a record player that works and likes classical music (all kinds), or random stuff like the Wurzels, , every different kind of bird song etc. etc. then they would be most welcome to them. There are even some 78 RPM records made of balolite, I think... :? and odd things like records from China. (BTW did you know that the literal translation from Chinese for the word for record is "singing slice"?

I do have a record player but never use it.

Well we also do have a record player. We bought it a few years ago to play all the records I couldn't bear to throw out. And it plays 78s as I have some of them (from when I was very young!!) But I must admit I haven't used it recently.

Well, when I get round to it I'll post a list of records in case anyone wants them.

.... continuing my efforts to get a little fitter.

On Tuesday I put myself through a class called 'Body Attack' - which was a high-impact aerobic session. As a 45-minute class I could just about survive it.... the problem was it was a 60-minute class :(

TOTALLY shattered at the end, but 100-times worse the following day. Little things like reaching back for the seatbelt felt impossible and every muscle group was sore.

Only had a short time available yesterday so on the way home had a good steam in the steam room.

Then tonight I went to a 'Body Combat' class where they rip off moves from any and all martial arts and put them together into an aerobic routine. Of all the classes this one catches my interest most (I've done it on odd occasions in the past) - mainly because I know how the moves should be done and where they come from ;) It's a game of 'spot the art' while trying to survive THAT 60-minutes.

Actually I don't feel as bad as I did on Tuesday, but we'll see what tomorrow brings. :o

The woman next to me at the start of the class turns out to be the Zumba teacher for Friday mornings, so I've got a personal invitation to join her class if I can get a couple of hours off.

We loved the Coastguard when we went last year, such a great location. :D

That all sounds very energetic MBH. I'm impressed. All I've managed this week is to swim 22 lengths one lunchtime.

I just picked my son up from the station and as we got back to the house spotted an animal in the headlights scurrying to get away from us. It was a badger! :D

Yesterday I cleaned a church. They do 'the big clean' every August where people can show up anytime over a couple of days and do a job on the list and then go home again. As I was the youngest person there by about 35 years, I got stuck for all the jobs that involved climbing. I think I cleaned about 200 windows, plus all the little tiny panes of the stained glass windows, all the moveable walls (It's a new church and has movable walls so that you can change the size and shape of the rooms), all the skirting boards and door frames, the tops of all the kitchen cupboards (Cos I was willing to climb on work-surfaces) 50 odd chairs etc.

I now ache in muscles I didn't know could ache, like the front of my neck, as well as all the usual ones that I knew very well were going to be painful this morning. So. MBH, you very much have my sympathy this morning. I think today's exercise will be a nice gentle walk to the bank.

Many years ago I was in Hong Kong for a while and was told most reliably that the litteral translation for "Exhaust Pipe" is "Death Gas Orifice".

  That's fabulous. Love it.

Anyway, Laura, think positive. You may ache now but you should have a spot reserved for you somewhere special at a much later date. Me, it's frazzling all the way.

Never mind that - I got myself a place on the men's group narrow boat trip! I might have to do the locks, but I can live with that!!!

Well, I finally got to see the HP film...... and went well prepared with tissues after previous comments :?.
It was well worth coming to London a day early (ready for the Meet tomorrow) so that Scurra could treat his Mum to the pictures  (and I bought him lunch....).
We also made another interesting visit in the morning whilst down in the City area near to the Guildhall and we found the "Clockmakers Museum". A really fascinating little (free) museum full of clocks and pocket watches dating back to the 15th century and tracing the history of clockmaking over the centuries. I recommend it if you are ever in that area, it's round the back of the Guildhall in Aldermanbury Street. Those who came to the Meet last year will have gone right past it when we were on our mystery walks around the City. Bunny was right when she recommended visiting London as a tourist from time to time - it is full of fascinating surprises :D

I think if you have the time and inclination then a second quiche might be good. 60 people is a lot to feed! Though average age comes into it too as younger people will eat rather more than older folk.

Hope it all goes well for you Tricia and the birthday girl has a good time. :D
