Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I am a terrible dancer. But will happily enthusiastically flail about if pushed at at disco.

Meant to say, Eirian, that is an exciting step for him, and a big one for you too. But like LAT says, it's still lovely to watch them through all the different stages.

Certainly a lot more fun than the good and unwilling camp...

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Meant to say, my recent foray into Facebook has just resulted in an invitation to a mini school reunion this Friday. Not convinced I really want to go and hear about all the successful careers and wonderful children....
Although I gather one of my year was on a programme about going back in history or something last week - did anyone see it? Her name was Susie and she ran a polo club or something in real life.
...Ah, just found it on i player. It was Turn Back Time.

Aah, we've been watching that. There are 5 parts altogether. I think her elder daughter is coming across particularly well.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
...apparently she has children called Saskia and Genivieve?? I wouldn't have recognised her if I'd walked into her in the street!! As I recall she was one of those goodie two shoes girls who was totally up herself. One of the sporty brigade, as I recall...so basically as I bunked off games from the age of 12 I didn't have much to do with her...
This is what I hate about reunions. They make you feel fat, careerless and inadequate... Strikes me I kept in touch with all the people I LIKED at school...
The bloke who's arranging this did make me laugh though. He said
"Just got off phone with XXXXXXX who is at a Festival this weekend and cannot come. I thought only Kids went to festivals."

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Yup. And the funny thing is that they have been allocated the working class house. You should have seen what they had to live in for the first week of the programme!
But Saskia is OK and has taken really well to being housemaid for the upper class family.
And re festivals - they do have all sorts these days with literary events too. Not that I'm tempted at all but I was looking at the details of one my daughter is going to in Suffolk soon and some of the people going to be there looked quite interesting. But my camping days ended about 40 years ago!

So don't go and camp - that's what local B&Bs are for. I know a couple of people who are going to Latitude in a few weeks and they aren't planning on sleeping in a tent... (and one of them isn't going for the music either!)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
yes! And wouldn't my daughter love it if I told her I was going there!
Even if the chance of bumping into her would be remote, I don't think I would risk it.

Aah, now the knack with loos at places like that is to go right to the back and not use the first vacant cubicle you find. Then you should get one that hasn't been used by so many people.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Wondering why my OH likes to make things difficult. I have an under the sink cupboard which at the minute contains the shelf that should go in it and a bucket. I'm sick of the technical measurements etc that need to be made to cut out all the pipework- leaving virtually no shelf. I moved the shelf positioners so that I could cut a square in one corner that only involved one pipe and gave maximum shelf space. OH moved me out of the way and said he'd do it now. We are now 2 hours down the line and the shelf still isn't in there. I'd have had it done and fitted in no more than half an hour my way.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
all part of the rites of passage. Mine each went to their first festivals at about that age. Although son hasn't bothered since, daughter has been to several, including twice to Spain and somewhere else abroad, Hungary I think.giraffe wrote:F is going to the V festival agianst my better judgement.

It's hard to say no when his friends are going and it is only 5 miles from our front door. I hope he doesn't enjoy it too much and want to go every year.
