automatic login

#1 Post by Laura » Mon Feb 16, 2009 2:00 pm

Anyone got any idea why sometimes I get logged in automatically (as I tell it to do whenever it doesn't log me in automatically), and sometimes I get the login screen?

I suspect it may be connected to the fact that there are two separate systems operating on the site (the magazine part and the forum part) and although they generally do a good job of sharing information, if one of them gets "out of sync" as it were, then the system can get confused.
It may also be connected with settings on your computer that clear cookies every so often. These are the little automated systems that tell websites when you have visited before etc. Security software (e.g. anti-virus or anti-spyware programs) have a tendency to clear cookies without telling you. This is good from a safety point-of-view, but annoying for times like this.

Or, of course, it could be that your computer doesn't like you and is merely trying to annoy you

All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Aha! The last one would probably be it! Never mind - I can live with it. Just thought that if it was something I could sort easily then I would. Thanks Scurra.
