The main reason that I am no longer active in puzzle-solving on the Forum is that I have been struggling with a diagnosis of breast cancer, which started to develop about a year ago. I had a previous occurrence just over 5 years ago, but that was successfully treated with an operation and I quickly recovered from it. But when it reappeared last year, it was found to be inoperable this time for various reasons. I was offered a short course of chemotherapy, but unfortunately I reacted badly to it and had to stop and was left with serious side effects, which have gradually caused a deterioration in my overall health - including my concentration.
I am getting wonderful help and support from the local Hospital Trust - we are constantly grateful for living in such an excellent area of the country! In particular I am under the care of the local Hospiscare Nursing team who offer me regular checks and treatment at home, including excellent pain control and therapy.
It has not ben easy for us both to adjust to such a radical change in lifestyle, and there is no way of telling how long it may last. But I have always had a strongly positive approach to life, sustained by my faith and a caring Christian community at the local church. Not to mention my wonderful husband, who is having to bear the main burden. So you can understand what a special occasion it was to celebrate out 60 happy years together last week
So there it is....
My thanks to you all for our online friendship and fun over the many years of Puzzlebrains
