Not surprised you are fed up. We all want some form of Christmas as a means to salvage something from this weird year so to have that potentially snatched away at the last minute is really dispiriting. Hope it turns out to be a false alarm.

Someone over on the Twitter proposed a class-action suit against the government for the cost of all the turkeys everyone bought... :)

(Or, in other cases, not having bought owing to other plans. I'm not at all bitter about being locked down for two weeks with nothing in stock because I was not expecting to be here...)

We do actually have two turkeys in the freezer. One is coming out next week to thaw for Christmas here with just me and Mrs S, Pumpkin and P-Dawg. This is because Mrs S couldn't accept another Christmas Day Pot Noodle dinner.
The other is because we will have Christmas Mark II in 2021 sometime when we can get to see Monkey and the rest of those family dahn sahf, and what are the chances of getting a turkey then? (We learnt from previous years it's hard. Although maybe there will be a whole bunch of frozen ones unsold from 2020 now.)

OK I'm trying to stop feeling s**t about everything. So I'm desperately attempting to find some positives.

1. We just tried out our makeshift washing machine drum brazier in the garden, and it worked REALLY well. So that's a top tip for you next time your washing machine dies. Although I think D nearly killed himself trying to remove it, but hey!

2. My other positive for an otherwise horrific day is that we just saw the Jupiter / Saturn conjunction whilst drinking the mulled wine.

3. We have ordered an entire turkey crown which D and I will have to eat. This is giving me hope that I might be able to convince him that we need a new cat.

4. There are no further positives. Tune in again tomorrow for further updates.

We have no view of any planets, the sky is very low and it's leaking a bit.
Pumpkin now has to close the shop after tomorrow (it's already furloughing Monday to Thursday). I don't know if it get opened again now.

Hope things sort out for Pumpkin. Glad at least that you are all alive!

Our Christmas plans have all been disrupted now too. :(

So Boris - the turkey I ordered for Christmas - well it felt the right name - now only needs to feed 3 people - so I am looking forward to tackling him with the blade and chopping him up into pieces that I can put in the freezer. :D

What a bloody pain for everyone.......bring on the jabs...which to be fair they are doing well at rolling out...M&D had their first ones this week, A&U due this coming week, although locally we had hour queues of the over 80's standing in rain - and the local bobbies coming out with umbrellas.......

My Dad had his on Tuesday, although his partner that he lives with (a mere 80 year old) wasn't done at the same time which seemed a bit bonkers. But he still has to wait until January for the second jab. Can't come soon enough! Although I looked up when I might get one, current prediction is next JUNE.

Chaz - please chop him up nice and slowly and with no mercy whatsoever!

I've not heard of anyone getting the vaccine up here in Yorkshire yet. My grandma is 89 so should be top of the list.

Funeral. Tick.
People managed to get there round notorious M25. Tick (well, apart from my brother who fell ill and couldn't go, sparking mass panic and rearrangement of speakers)
Strange humanist celebrant didn't make too much stuff up. Tick
K came and Charlotte was perfectly behaved. Tick
Managed to speak coherently at said funeral without ending up in a puddle. Tick.

"Wound down" after long walk in Ashridge with mysterious fishbollen and marcipanbrod supplied by Dibble. Tick

Drank too much campfire gin. Tick.

Bit of a day, really.
