Re: Happy Birthday
Yes, it was a special one.
K collated video messages from friends and family which she put together and gave me. That in itself was brilliant. Not just your usual "happy birthday" type stuff, some real major effort went in to some of them. One friend dressed up as a spy and left secret messages. Another found out old diaries from 1978 and read out some of the silly things I had written in there. Another couple did me an entire rendition of Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday" whilst dressed in disco gear (they are both mid 60s.) My brother did a complete Fast Show sketch. My cousin filmed her and her partner having a barbecue at the beach in my honour. Another friend dressed up as a purple rabbit (complete with face paint, ears and a tail). Another sent me a message whilst hula hooping. The list goes on. Fab.
I had a succession of furtive deliveries to my door - a beautiful pot for the garden with a rhododendron in it. A bee teapot. A voucher for a weekend away. A promise of a trip to Iceland. And lots more.
And Katherine had a lady make me a silver necklace with a pendant on it, which has my Dad's wonderful spidery writing imprinted on it. Well, that made me cry.
The day was one of sparkling sunshine, so we ate lunch in the garden, had the girls playing in the new sandpit, then went to K's for a takeaway and a Zoom locked room.
So yes, a lovely day. And thank you for all your good wishes too.
