Friend or foe?

#1 Post by Cenwulf » Tue Oct 07, 2008 11:07 pm

When I have a squiggy at the profiles of other members, I see a bit under the name which is [Add friend|Add foe]. I just want ter know what this is about - surely we'd all be friends on a forum such as this?

And if I felt sufficiently offended with a member ter go ter their profile and mark it as 'foe' would I be able to alter it if the situation changes?

Glad you asked that. I thought it a little odd - and I couldn't see any reason for using it. (Now you'll all tell me that I am marked as "foe", I suppose).

I was going to disable this feature because it seemed rather unnecessary.
Basically, if you mark someone as a "foe", it means that if they post anything on the forum, you won't know about it or even see it unless someone else quotes from their message. They can't send you PMs either. On some forums this is a rather essential feature - I hope it never becomes so on here..
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Ooh I don't know..... if cenwulf doesn't learn to spell I might be tempted...... (I don't mind people that can't spell, like a dear friend from another place, but those that won't spell....)

I promise I don't mean to be insulting here, but what exactly is your dialect?

Nothing against dialects, (except you don't spell like that in other places) but deliberate misspelling winds me up like people who dont use proper words in texts. (Although I will admit to a lack of capital letters in my own texts, but that is because I don't know how to do them on the phone)

What happened was that Mr S. wanted someone ter have a look at the site and chose me - I think he intended Sam Ragan ter be the one who would interact with the site. I joined so I could see what was goin' on, so y're all stuck with me. Anyhow, I haven't really posted much on the Other Place, (Mostly it's Mr S., Xeno, Sam, Kojo, Mike, Si and Bev) so here I've got a bit more freedom.
(I've just realised that this will make no sense whatsoever ter those who haven't been to the Other Place! If anyone is in the dark and really wants ter know, then go there and do a 'Search' fer me login name - but y're better off not knowing. Really.)

And me dialect is generally Mercian, as I'm from Tameworþig, but I'm currently in South Wessex and that may have influenced me a bit.
