Re: Today I've mostly bin...
That's very sad news. I hope you can get over it. The picture collage sounds a lovely idea.
Misty seems to have used up quite a few of her lives already
and at the moment she's tormented by a mental blackbird who thinks everybody and everything is a threat to his missus on the nest/with the fledgling. Poor Misty (ok, she's a cat, I know) only has to show her face in the garden and he comes out and divebombs her, pecking and being very violent. I've never seen such aggressive behaviour from a garden bird before. I had to rescue her from under a bush earlier and she's spent most of tonight under the bed, keeping well out of trouble. (Shame she's not so placid with humans generally!)

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Thanks everyone!
Luna was only 2 so should have had many more years with us. Our previous two cats were sisters and died within about 10 months of each other at about 14 years old. It was easier with them in a way as we knew they were ill and so were prepared for the worst. Luna had used up a few lives (she'd been in our pond twice to our knowledge for a start) but I didn't think she'd run out yet.
Poor Misty, that blackbird sounds terrifying Sparkout
. I wonder if she will get her revenge. Give her a tickle from me!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Our cat gets divebombed by the blackbird too, he's positively ferocious. It is quite amusing to watch when my cat starts to stalk the blackbird when he hasn't spotted her. She creeps up towards him on her belly, then he suddenly turns and "chinks" at her and she runs away, terrified!!
She's had far too many pecks of fur taken out to actually risk that final pounce!
...today I went with my friend to Music on the Moor, which is held bianually on some local (Boxmoor) trust land. They have 2 covered stages and lots of stalls etc. Two years ago, it was a fabulous day, with families picnicking on the grass, people chatting and listening to the music, some drinking wine. This year, it seems to have degenerated into lots of drunk people, lots of chavs with obnoxious children (e.g. a 9 year old who said to my friend and I IN FRONT OF HIS MOTHER "Get off that f...ing bench, that's ours, f... off!" ) And the LITTER was apalling.
SUCH a shame, so much effort had gone into the organisation, and it's such a nice place. The music was good too!! Hoping tomorrow it'll be more civilised (classical and jazz, so I doubt if the chavs will be there).
Finally, we gave up (it was raining too) and went back to my friend's house. We watched Mama Mia on DVD, and sang and danced round her living room. I did try to get her long suffering husband to do a duet of SOS with me but he was having none of it. (Poor s*d is just resigned to our antics after 30 years of it)

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I'd be delighted to have bats in my loft. Instead I have them in my belfry.
...today I've been regaining my belief in humanity. Went to the second day of Music on the Moor. Today it was Jazz/ blues/ classical. What a difference!! No chavs, no rubbish, nice kids, friendly non-drunk people sitting around having picnics in the sun and enjoying the music. I sat there with a glass of cold cider with my friends listening to a really fantastic jazz/rock fusion band, a choir and a symphony orchestra. Lovely!
So there are nice people in my town after all. It's just all the hateful ones went yesterday.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Glad you had a better time today Bunny
Bats are great eirian - they fly around our garden and up and down the road, but I don't think we have any nesting with us.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
When I was a kid we discovered bats in the attic quite by accident. They flew out, and one landed on my sisters head while the other flew up mom's nightdress. Dad was chasing both of them (mom and sister) around the house with a broom. In the mean time my brother had opened the doors and the bat's flew out, unknown to dad who was still attacking with that broom
In the mean time, I'm off on another ferry ride to Zhuhai today. Satelite photos look clear today and surface pictures don't show too many white caps. Dramamine is still going down. I've decided I'm a glutton for punishment! I must be, I keep attempting these puzzles

......discovering crop circles on the front lawn.
OH mowed it last night, perhaps the mower malfunctioned?
(Crop circles about 12 inches in diameter incase anyone was thinking of something on a grander scale

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
......bored, except for the hour or so I watched an arthroscopy on my shoulder. Doc hoovered up all the rough bits, fingers crossed (i will when the nerve blocks wear off) for a painfree outcome.

Sorry, please excuse my ignorance, but what the heck is that?kathlyn wrote:arthroscopy on my shoulder.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
second this = it does sound painful but what is it?
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Well I would guess that an arthroscope is like an endoscope (one of those "bendy cameras") only for bones instead of organs (since arthro- relates to joints, hence arthritis etc.)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
