  Yes, you might have a good point there, Strep!! (See you all think it's me that's loony. You think that lovely little angel is all sweetness and light? NO. -personally, I think horns might be more appropriate!!)

It's a good job that all of your postings are being replaced with innocuous comments about birds and flowers for all new members then isn't it?

Do you know what? That's probably not a bad idea. I'm less likely to get sued, arrested, sacked, or carted away in a yellow bus. Go for it.

Perhaps you could put her name and address on the appended letter and send it to her when you're on holiday in South Wessex.... I mean Dorset.

 OH cool. Thank you Cenwulf! I'll need to leave a suitable cooling off period before I send it (after the revival of the letters I mean). I'll let you know! :D

Today Ive mostly been catching up with the forum. Just returned from holiday in Folkestone - great fun. Tootled about - went accross to France - just for Luch - superb and much cheaper than going up to London, also did some supermarket shopping for different foods - there was so much variety. Could't carry the wine though cos Easyjet have a strict one bag policy. I visited my favourite war memorial - the Battle of Britain memorial at Capel le Ferne - it is a lovely memorial of a single pilot sitting on top of the cliff looking out into the Channel wating for the others to return. It is realy well maintained and is worth paying a visit.
hired a car to get about- the car I got was a manual one< however for the past 18 months I have been driving an automatic car because of my arthritis - I kept on wondering why it would not go into gear when i was depressing the brake peddle instead of the clutch - very senior moment.

We were staying with a friend who had just celebrated 70 years working for the same solicitor's in Folkestone - she is 87 fit as a fiddle and has no intentions of retiring - that puts me to shame - I think of that every day!!!!!!
On returning the car to Gatwick - we saw the saddest thing - A hearse with a coffin draped in the Union flag - we realised it was the coffin of the soldier who had died in Afghanistan who was due to be buried at Crawley - there was no Escort and all the lorries were impatient to get passed or they did not realise what it the hearse was carrying.

Its nice to be back

Glad you had a good holiday, Tricia, but sad about the coffin. That just about sums it up doesn't it? These young men, sent off to "fight for their country" and they can't even give the coffin a decent escort. That makes me want to cry. :(

70 years working for the same solicitor's in Folkestone
Wow, thats some achievement. My ex boss thought he had a record going as the only solicitor to have 3 generations of the same family working for him at the same time. My mum had been there 35 years, at the time I'd clocked up 12 years and my daughter helped out during a sick leave. When he offered her a full time post I asked him if he'd not rather wait until she'd reproduced so that he had the next generation ready and waiting for the day my mum retired.

This week I've mostly bin..... not camping. We chickened out when we saw the weather map was totally blue for all of the time I was meant to be away. Still stayed with friends though, and went to Go Ape, which is like an aerial assault course, for those who haven't heard of it. So now i've just spent an hour and a half, reading the first half of the messages that have been put on here in the last five days. You lot write a LOT!!!! I'm going to have to come back to the rest of them tomorrow!

Oh, what a shame you didn't get to go camping, Laura, that's a real pity. And you went on Go Ape? That's my idea of absolute hell!! (Heights).

Somebody has to be able to put the buckets of water above the doors standing ajar, and tie the swinging flour bags to the light fittings

Today I've mostly bin.... getting my bus into place at the Air Show and getting ready for the public to arrive - which they have done for the past hour. Getting quite busy here on this wonderful sunny day.

Yeah, and you're likely to be one of the first victims, Clvrlad. We'll get Looby along with her rope too. Then you'll be in trouble.

Well, you're certainly lucky with the weather today, bro. We had more thunder and lightning yesterday. My poor daughter was working in the park driving the train all day. I was sensible (although some may disagree). I stayed padlocked to the other end of Scurra's evil domain in cyber space, test solving (or rather test-not-solving until, I think it was 2.30am) . One of these days I will learn to be able to leave things and come back to them.

It took a Google to check on that one, and since I'm guessing you didn't mean
SiRF is a member of the CSR plc Group of companies.

CSR plc is a leading provider of multifunction connectivity and location platforms
... I'm guessing you're talking about Stockton International Riverside Festival 2009

They only include us in the Sunderland Council events because it costs nothing for us to attend and I haven't figured a way of charging my own bosses for having us there (...Yet!) - so there's no chance of them sending us galavanting about across the country for festivals. :(

Had a great day at the Air Show - a number of photos of very quesionable quality on my phone - but I'll post a few up (possibly a different thread) if anyone is interested.

My wife said that the Red Arrows came over our house (some 25 miles away) in formation, but no smoke at that point

What a weekend
had to call emergency services coz someone set fire to a tree in a wood nearby, same evening
my nephew hurt himself on the way back from pub and is now in hospital having cut an artery lost loads of blood perhaps 6 pints and left a blood trail across town.
Makes you thankful that someone found him in time.- certainly realigns your priorities!!
