I've just been outside in my garden and have seen 3 really good shooting stars already. They are originating from the north east (look for the W of Cassieopeia (sorry don't know how to spell it), but you see them anywhere across the sky).

I'll be taking Jennie out for her last 'visit' later on, so I'll have a look before I settle down :)

Just spent 10 minutes outside, got bitten by an insect :( got a crick in my neck and was starting to get cold. Will have to dig out a jumper and try again.
The moon is so bright though, it almost hurts to look at it.

I'm not seeing so many now. I'll look again when I go to bed (probably about 3am as usual!!)

I may be wrong but I think I can see Mars too.

No, that's on your "chocolate table", next to the Bounty.

Oh ha hardy ha.

I don't usually eat chocolate, actually. Hard to believe (having seen me) I know. I'm obviously not a real girl.

Just been out for a look, (hobbled out on my crutches - getting very adept now) but the sky is overcast and it looks as if it is going to pour down. So no chance.

Anyway I keep thinking about the Day of the Triffids and don't fancy the fate that befell the sky watchers!

Brian, you sniped me - was just going to complain about how cloudy it is here tonight! Only remembered at around 10am this morning, which is a shame, since I was awake just before dawn for some reason!

Cloudy where I am at the moment as well - and have made a real effort to remember - despite a hectic day :!:

See. That's why I need you nearer here. I could make you eat things I shouldn't. Then I'd be nice and lean and you'd (probably, being a typical lucky man) stay nice and lean too. There really IS no justice in this world, you know!!

It was cloudy here last night, so I was pleased that I made the effort to see them the night before when it was a lovely starry night. The crick in the neck thing is a bit of a problem, as is the fact that David decided to lie on the grass to watch, and ended up with squashed slug on his jumper. But I did end up seeing quite a few, including a couple of real spectaculars - the kind which take about 4 seconds to move across the sky. Fabulous.

Hey.... well done on getting out there to see them. I forgot it the first night, when it was fairly clear here, and then last night it was far too cloudy.
It's one of the first things that I noticed when we moved to Devon two years ago (can it really be so long..... never!!) - how gloriously clear the sky is and how much brighter the stars are than in polluted Salford (sorry Brian!)

I always love it when we go to Devon, you can definitely see far more stars. Trouble is, I generally end up outside in the garden with a bottle of wine, and it's strange, but suddenly the stars start to go all blurry and dance about! (Or is that ME?? ) When I was in Norfolk with my girlie mates a few months ago, I had my friend in stitches at about 4am (we were sharing a bedroom, giggling and having a "midnight" feast ( like you do when you're 48), and I commented, after rather a lot of red wine (surprise surprise) "One does get a much better QUALITY of star here." Needless to say I've not been allowed to forget that one.

What! You go all blurry and dance about?
I'm not sure I want to think about that image.
