I think i did the same but for St Pauls and Knightsbridge.Cenwulf wrote:This is because I got the answer to the 'Vauxhall' puzzle by looking at what I had from other puzzles, rather than from going through the process of solving it.

Re: Finished!!!
I've only ever managed to do that once. But that's probably because I am dense.
Mind you, it REALLY annoys me to do things like that. It's the mechanics of puzzles themselves I like to work out, not just the answers. For example, in the old DVP alphabet puzzles, I always had to work out what all the letters were, even if I had the answer. Yes, I know I am sad. I think this need to work through each bit painstakingly drives a certain Jester to distraction.

It is useful sometimes (when something turns out not to work.) I do get my own back from time to time though...Bunnylump wrote:I think this need to work through each bit painstakingly drives a certain Jester to distraction.

Well, to be fair, I think that's a bit of an understatement!

Re: Finished!!!
I'll share this bit of stupidity with you all. I was test solving a puzzle, not written by Scurra- and he also hadn't solved it himself at the relevant point.
I knew the answer had a possible 175 combinations and set about entering them all in the answer box. I got to 50+ before I realised that if Scurra hadn't solved it he wouldn't be able to set up the answer box.....................................

Re: Finished!!!
Hmmm not sure that was how it worked. I must say, just the once, I had an insight into Scurra's puzzle solving. He was so fast he left me standing with my mouth open. But then I am a bit gormless...

Re: Finished!!!
Scurra did tell me that he did know what the answer had to be - so if I'd continued with my method it would have worked
Once upon a time, on a different puzzle site- namely The Runes- Scurra was a little stuck on a bit I'd solved. We had an exchange of PM's and I told him I'd solved the bit he was stuck on. I can honestly say the only help I gave him was to tell him to do again what he'd done before, but emphasised it. Less than half an hour later he'd dropped about 4 puzzles all in one go
Thats why he's the setter here!!!

Re: Finished!!!
That's true. And that's also why my response to pleas for help is far too often just to tell people to look again at what is right in front of them (I do realise that this is also somewhat aggravating a lot of the time. For which I do once again publicly apologise. Even thought I'm right
)

Isn't it funny how the words GIT SMUG and INSUFFERABLE all just floated through my mind? But not necessarily in that order.
