There is a new puzzle hunt due to commence 31st August. I've registered a team for us.
http://www.maths.usyd.edu.au/ub/garethw/puzzlehunt
Team name:
www.puzzlebrains.co.uk.
Those interested please reply to this post and I'll send you the password. I can't post it here because I've no doubt our other forum team (Sparkout , Backstage comic & co) will be entering too
There is a sample puzzle on the site. All welcome to join in. In fact, the more the merrier. As per MUMS & CISRA, we will be working together on joint spreads.
Scurra, can we have a closed forum with a reminder for the log in for google please ?.

Be brave MBH! The sample will probably put you off
edit: The sample will definitely put you off!

Very antipodean.

I looked at the sample and couldn't do it but I think I might join in although on the Wed, Thur and Fri of that week I am at school. I don't think that I will contribute much but you never know.

And I'm up for having a go. Although this time I will put down every bit of my workings out, so that we don't stupidly miss an answer because I couldn't see it. GRRRRR!!!
(Sorry, still annoyed about the last one!)

I've looked and decided I may be of no use at all.

I don't have hot flushes. I have short holidays in the Tropics.

Very antipodean.

May I respectfully disagree, Giraffe. There is nothing "antipodean" about the first stage of the puzzle (I had no trouble deriving the required information), and the bit you are referring to is pretty easily found, since there are a lot of clues within the puzzle to point you in the right direction, including the title.
I thought it was a very neat little puzzle that was eminently solveable without any real specialist knowledge.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Oh I agree that it is a neat little puzzle, but I still thought it might put him off. Along the lines of if they are all based on Australian personalities I'll not stand a chance. Mind you, as Gill points out, the Melbourne pub crawl was fun.

Passwords on there way to MBH, Strep and Clvrlad
Dont be scared- nobody knows who contributes most of the time. We don't sign our efforts!! Even duff efforts are good efforts because they can eliminate avenues.
And if Giraffe and I can complete a pub crawl in Melbourne Australia with a street map and a list of pubs, hotels etc between us then I'd say that anything is possible.

I got 2 of the first step - that puts it on a par with a Scurra puzzle
{although I wouldn't say the last step 'phrase' is
particularly well known in comparison to the others}

I'm not even looking at the sample puzzles. It's got the word MATHEMATICS in the title. Sorry. Too busy drawing giraffes (and reading Shakespeare).
