... stuck at home, so trying to puzzle.

During which - while researching {re_sir_ching - technical term for blundering around in the dark hoping for insipiration} I found the following style of phonetic alphabet - very useful for the more annoying 'Customer Serivce' operators you may end up talking to:

Roman Numerals (rn)

A-Are
B- bdellium
C- cue / 100 (rn)
D- Double-u / 500 (rn)
E- eye
F- Faze
G- gnome
H- heir
I- irrupt/ 1(rn)
J- Jalapeno
K- Knot
L- Llama/ 50 (rn)
M- mnemonic/ 1000(rn)
N- Nguyen
O- Ours
P-psycho
Q- Quay
R-Are u listening
S-see
T- Tsunami
U- Urn
V- 5 (rn)
W- whole
X-xylophone/ 10 (rn)
Y- You
Z- Zhivago

{Yes - I needed to Google "bdellium"}

For those that looked down the list and said "Yeah? So waht??" remember to read it out loud

...gardening. And damaging myself.
I stupidly tried to move my tomato stakes whilst standing on a log. The log rolled, and I landed, with all my (considerable) weight on TOP of the tomato stake in a very unfortunate place. Excruxiatingly painful. I now have one "side" about twice the size of the other, and am looking forward to actually becoming purple for real. :(

Postie not arrived - gives me time to get back to doing the family history - its a bit difficult at times - I can get full access to the Scottish records - which takes in my maternal side, however my Paternal side mostly comes from Sussex in and around Cuckfield before moving to Brighton. Spookily I was born in Horsham avbout 10 -15 miles from Cuckfiled!!!!!!!
I have some evidence of them being there about 1700.

The Scottish side starts in the Highlands near Inverness , move to Skye then down to Central Lowlands obviously following the work.
I have found Sailors, coastguards , cotton mill workers , farmers, shoemakers and miners.
So most of ancestors are from Scotland, England, I have found a link to Cork and to Australia - even Brazil.

All I need is to find a Welsh Connection then I am sorted for being representative from all of the UK

Tricia :D

PS Bunny you take care and don't get into any more scrapes

Lucky you. I have workhouses, wanton women, and Homer Simpson!

On the plus side I have Chad Varah (founder of the Samaritans) and somebody Tiffin, the first governor of Ohio. I also struck lucky with a great great granparent. Her whole history is documented back to 1401. All 51 pages of it. Needless to say she was the black sheep and they don't want to know about her. I've tried 3 times to continue the line down from her (yes, I sent documented proof) but I'm just ignored. :(

Lucky You - getting that far back - I am semi stuck with the family in Skye because the parish registers no longer exist - but the ancesters were involved in the rent strikes against the McLeod Land owners in 1866 which were part of the second Highland Clearances

Not that bit fraggle. Front half (the bits that come in pairs... ) flipping painful. Ouch ouch ouch...

So far my family tree has turned up LOTS of farm workers, washerwomen etc., but ALSO a set of Lords, a Cornish "giant" and a bigamist who ended up in the News of the World.

downloading a load of pics of my gorgeous boy from my camera (ok, so I did it a few days ago, but only just had time to post one of them here!)

so here he is:

The next issue has excellent timing - we're taking Thomas to visit his grandparents next week, so I suspect that his grandad will do plenty of babysitting while me, Sigur & Wulf try to do as much as possible before Scurra arrives at the end of the week and we try out the power of cute baby as a method of extracting hints from a (hopefully) doting uncle!
