Oh, you're a big softie, LAT.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

Scurra - If you have the power to 'split threads' (I know it's possible on other forums) then you could chop the last 7 posts off this one into a new thread called "Poetry Please".... I seem to have started something

Re: Listen Again - things we might want to share
There have been a couple of questions about MY location in the country, and I mention that the River Tyne plays a big part in it.
On this evening's episode of Coast the village of Cullercoats gets a good 15-minute advert, and this was my regular (walking distance) playground as I grew up in Whitley Bay.
For those that don't want to see the whole show, it starts about 20-mins in, and spends 15-mins on Cullercoats, a nice ride up the Tyne (seeing the bridges and the Sage building), and then moves on to Sunderland where I now work.

This isn't a show I've ever watched before, but it was nice seeing my own area

I love that programme - it is usually really interesting.
And I thought of you while watching it last night MBH as I assumed it was your area.

I usually do watch Coast, but as it happens I missed this one. Very interesting. It looks like there are some tough ladies in your area MBH!!

I don't know if any of you watch the X Factor but this one on last night and is very amusing, the sort of thing that you can't help laughing at.

Re: Listen Again - things we might want to share
It's a while since I visited this thread, but while driving round getting organized yesterday I heard this Punt PI episode that will appeal to any Map fans that missed it.
Hopefully it doesn't prompt a new map puzzle OR a suggestion of a place for the next get-together

OK - I'm on a different timetable this week and seeing different things.
For those amongst us that admire amazing structures and the way they are put together this program impressed me greatly - but to some people.... some occasional scenes... here and there... might be just a LITTLE bit.... scary???

Before my childhood dreams of being a TV Cameraman was shattered (by our so-called Careers Advice Teacher), this is the sort of thing I thought I'd be doing.

Re: Listen Again - things we might want to share
Yes - I did watch it because we used to have a flat just around the corner from there.
Actually I've watched most of the series and don't find it tooo bad. Maybe that's because I'm sure that they'd have edited it out if the climbers had fallen off.
I've just got back from a week in Austria and I went on 4 cablecars!! (6 if you include down as well, but I did walk down twice) Achievable if sitting facing up the slope and carefully studying the floor or keeping eyes closed.

There's no point in having a last minute if you don't use it!

Re: Listen Again - things we might want to share
Finally managed to watch the man climbing buildings - great bridge, isn't it? It did make me feel SICK to watch it though...
Actually I've caught a couple of these - it's really great to see buildings from such unusual perspectives.

Re: Listen Again - things we might want to share
I dont know if this is the right thread but I thought I'd share some of the sayings I received in an email today
They did make me smile
Thought you knew everything?
Stewardesses is the longest word
typed with only the left hand.
And 'lollipop' is the longest word typed
with your right hand.
(Bet you tried this out mentally, didn't you?)
No word in the English language rhymes with
month, orange, silver, or purple.
' Dreamt' is the only English word that ends in the letters 'mt'.
(Are you doubting this?)
our eyes are always the same size from birth,
but our nose and ears never stop growing.
The sentence: 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog'
uses every letter of the alphabet.
(Now, you KNOW you're going to try this out for accuracy, right?)
The words 'racecar,' 'kayak' and 'level' are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left (palindromes).
(Yep, I knew you were going to 'do' this one.)
There are only four words in the English language which end in 'dous': tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous.
(You're not possibly doubting this, are you ?)
There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: 'abstemious' and 'facetious.'
(Yes, admit it, you are going to say, a e i o u)
TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.
(All you typists are going to test this out)
A cat has 32 muscles in each ear.
A goldfish has a memory span of three seconds
(Some days that's about what my memory span is.)
A 'jiffy' is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second.
A shark is the only fish that can blink with both eyes.
A snail can sleep for three years.
(I know some people that could do this too!)
Almonds are a member of the peach family.
An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.
(I know some people like that also . Actually I know A LOT of people like this!)
Babies are born without kneecaps.
They don't appear until the child reaches 2 to 6 years of age.
February 1865 is the only month in recorded history not to have a full moon.
In the last 4,000 years, no new animals have been domesticated.
If the population of China walked past you, 8 abreast,
the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction.
Leonardo Da Vinci invented the scissors

Well, as usual, some of those aren't strictly true. But they are all good fun. Although
makes me wonder when they'd actually get time to get around to doing it, as it were...If the population of China walked past you, 8 abreast,
the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.

No, the problem is that I have too much imagination, which is why I can see the difficulties...Bunnylump wrote:And Scurra, you have no imagination...
