Re: Today I've mostly bin...
feeling v worried now - leave for exam in approx an hour and the school just rang to say that they think my son may have possible appendicitus:(
My oh says he is probably making it up but as he had peri enteritus when a teenager himself and had to be rushed in for an emergency appendix removal this is not conforting me.
The school have said carry on with the exam as they have a fully qualified nurse caring for him but am feeling v anxious and incrediably bad mother.

Oh that's horrible. The last thing you need is something else to be stressed about.
All our best wishes are with you.
(When I was at school, a number of us only found out that one of our teachers had been killed in an accident just before we went into the A level exam for that particular subject! I believe the whole class scored about a grade lower than we had been "estimated" at.)

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.

Oh poor you. I'm sure school will look after him suitably.
I've just had Fernando's school on the phone, asking me if I want to pick him up as he has fainted and bumped his head! The nurse seemed to think he's ok, so I've asked them to keep him. So you're not the only bad mother.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Oh, Biscuit, isn't that just the way life goes??
You'll laugh about this after you've passed and he's just turned out to have a dicky tummy!
When the school phoned to say my son had done his spectacular dive from the top of the gym and almost impaled himself on a badminton post, I went in and the first thing I did was tell him off for
A) being such an arse and
b) sending his sister into a spin as she was just going into her A level music practical (some considerate pupil went and said to her as she was waiting outside the room "Guess what? Your brother's got a pole stuck in him and they've got the ambulance coming"!
(That wasn't actually true, he had broken his pelvis, but it was only because he was being an idiot)! Now am I the ultimate bad mother?
He thinks it's funny now, and so do I.
Best wishes, stay calm. You can do it!!

Thanks for that. Made me smile.
I did manage to get hold of oh who took over the fort but by this time the nurse had given him ibuprofen and he had fallen asleep - he felt much better when he woke and went back to lessons - meanwhile I am sitting in my exam wondering especially as his dad had had his appendix burst at much the same age.
Anyway no harm done and I will keep an eye on him for the next few weeks just in case.
Exam was crap. Hopefully I will have managed the 40% to pass - but I don't need to worry about that till Christmas. So I am bundling up all my books and sticking them in a cupboard.
I was the most prepared though as I was the only one with a family sized bag of cadbury's fingers to sustain me through the ordeal.
Now I can give PB the time it deserves. After I have finished this very large glass of wine:) or two.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
...I've mostly bin plotting evil revenge on the jester. Gill and I have been trying to test solve the meta for the next issue and he's just been laughing at us. What he hasn't considered is that I'm seeing him soon. Gill and I have agreed that while one holds, the other can bash. I think that's a fair solution.

I'm glad your son's ok Biscuit, and I'm sure the exam was better than you think.
F's ok too. A bit embarrassed at having keeled over, but he survived the afternoon and is laughing about it now.

So why did he faint Giraffe? Not eating enough? (Somehow I doubt that at his age!!)

Well it was just before lunch, so he might have been probably was hungry. He was in a biology lesson and the room was quite hot and they were talking about cutting yourself and severing nerves. He's a bit squeamish, so I think it was just a combination of things. K turns green at the mention of anything gruesome too.
He didn't ask for me to collect him, because the lunch menu was good for today

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Ah, so nothing too serious for either of them. That's good. My son always crashed in a big heap whenever he had a vaccination.
Stupid thing is he's the only one of all of us who is ALLOWED to give blood, and he WON'T.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I'm allowed to give blood and can't. They just can't get a needle into my pathetically narrow and deeply hidden veins. It caused quite a lot of problems when I was in hospital with a ruptured appendix and had to have a drip in. They had to get the big boss nurse to come and do it, cos no-one else could manage it!!!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Yes, me too. They look at my arms and say things like "tsk" or "oh dear". When I was in having my last operation I had to have a drip in the back of my hand (which was REALLY painful) because my arm veins are such rubbish.
I do apparently have "lovely bones" though. A doctor who took an x ray of me asked if I'd mind if he kept a copy of the x ray as a picture for his wall!!
That's the only way I'd ever be a pin up!!
Mind you, they seem to find my bizarre digestive system fascinating too - when I went in for a barium meal x ray recently the doctor asked if I'd mind if "a couple" of medical students could watch because it was "quite unique". Then about 12 of them crammed into the little room to watch!!!
I heard one of them say "Crikey, you wouldn't think it'd keep working being wired up like THAT, would you?"
So now I keep waiting for something to come unplugged or fuse together (like it did last time).

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Friday is the best day for school lunches because they don't bother with the healthy stuff. The main reason I stayed was for my chips.
