I met a friend today, who really made me laugh.

She'd been doing a first aid course, and was having an assessment. She was supposed to be giving one of those dummies the kiss of life. What she didn't realise was that they sort of "suck" in when you remove your mouth from them. She had some chewing gum in her mouth, and the dummy sucked it in!! Desperately hoping the assessors hadn't noticed, she then tried to remove the chewing gum with her tongue. One of them commented that she was supposed to be saving a life, not French kissing him!!

... having an unexpected night out working behind the bar in the Cricket Club I used to work in.

Phonecall this afternoon saying "Can you help?", and suddenly I'm back behind the bar again. Apart from one event last Christmas, its about 5 years since I worked there (but having been there over 10-year I was part of the fixtures and fittings  ).

It's odd - within 10-minutes of it getting busy (darts night), all the old physical operations of serving drinks, sorting money, and avoiding bumping into the barmaid I was working with ALL came back as if I'd never left.

I've had a really good evening seeing lots of old faces (getting older all the time  ) and laughing at their shocked expression at seeing "The Juggler" behind the bar again. The difference that DOES hit me hard is that the kids I remember chasing each other on hands and knees around the chair legs are now 6'2" and driving

Also, I'm £20 better off than I was at tea-time. :D

:D Sounds like you had a good time. And it's always a bonus to be able to earn some money while you're on! I can't imagine myself being a bar person. I'd get everyone's orders wrong and drop things all over the place!!

We've just been out for an Indian meal with my daughter and her boyfriend. I was amazed because one of the waiters said hello and asked how I was keeping - he'd remembered me from 23 years ago when I used to work in the Jobcentre opposite his restaurant!! Now that IS impressive, don't you think?

Having finished and waiting for the new issue to come , I have been tidying out all my magazines which I have gathered. Whilst doing this I came accross the only issue of tough puzzles I ever bought. I remember bying it when I was down in Cornwall and as the jouney home was by coach , i thought it would pass the time. Guess what I could not do a single puzzle. Looking at it today, I have found a Knights tour , several alphafactors, so I am going to give them a go. I just shows how much I have learned through DVP and PB ( I did try the rhunes but never made it past level 6) Sometimes I think I would like to try and move up . Does anyone know if the rhunes is still going

Yes, runes is still there and there are a few people still doing it. I pop in occasionally to see if anything is new, and I know Wulfruna does too.

...... all dressed up and waiting to scare the living daylights out of the 'little darlings' that might come to the door *Mwhahahahhahahh*

I've also carved the pumpkin (using a stencil set from a couple of years ago. Just got a photo of it so I'll post it when I get a chance to put it on the computer. :D It was a 3 (out of 4) difficulty level BEFORE I scanned and reduced it in size to fit on the pumpkin we have).

I'm pleased with it if I DO say so myself. [Well impressed with the other one we've seen a photo of on here as well] ;)

My daughter, inspired by Monkey's pumpkin has done a "cat face". It terrified the living daylights out of my cat!

And I don't need to dress up to scare the trick and treaters!!
Actually, my friend Sue has just fallen out of a canoe (she likes to do all that dangerous white water stuff), and hit her head on a rock under the water. She's ended up with six massive stitches in her forehead, a huge swollen brow and two black eyes. I hope she doesn't open the door to any little kids - she'd scare the living daylights out of them!!

OK someone explain WHY:
if I forget to go out and buy sweets, we get about 20 sets of trick and treaters, whereas, having gone out and bought a massive bucket of sweeties and lollies, we've had one lot?

Oh well, better start on the Parma violets...

Bunny, it sounds like you could have just invented a new forum game. Not entirely sure how it would work, but there's got to be something in there, surely?

Today I've mostly been,

....watching telly. Not that exciting but, I did watch Oklahoma, which I've never seen before.

Actually, its the only Rogers and Hammerstein musical I hadn't seen, although I know most of the songs from the trailers before all the other R&H musicals I watched on video as a kid. I now have 'Surrey with a fringe on top' going round my head and I suspect it will be there for a while... at least until I get something equally annoying stuck in there.

I do love a good musical! Actually, I love quite a lot of not so good musicals as well, expecially if they have a good star like Doris Day. I'm not bothered about the storyline if there's someone worth watching in it.

 Yes, maybe I'll write a puzzle which incorporates love heart slogans. That would keep you all on your toes.

I'm not telling you what I did with the one I chose for Scurra.

P.S. Could that please win the prize for the most random post on the entire Puzzlebrains site? I think it should be well up there! I was having a bit of a "moment".

Oh this is a bit of a worry. I'm now talking to myself. I suddenly realised I hadn't shown you the pumpkin! Oh, and I hope you're all impressed that I've worked out how to resize pictures!! :D .>smug<

Awwww - Cute Pussy Cat :)

My carving went down very well - we ended up in the pub round the corner (all in costume), and had a noisy time. Home, clean, and settling down now.

I'll post my photos sometime later today (with a bit of luck).

OK - got the pics off the cameraphone, and here are:

My pumpkin - very pleased with the effect.

EEEk!
I'm not sure I'd like to meet you on a dark night dressed like that!! And as for your friends...(I'm guessing that's Mrs. MBH?) she'd look a lot more convincing if she wasn't SMILING.  Your pal(?) - was he taking a photo of the person whose blood is all over his shirt for posterity??

Love them. What fun!
We USED to do all sorts of fun things on halloween (before OH had a sense of humour transplant and officially became an old g*t) -such as blindfold jelly eating!!

How do you blindfold a jelly?
And does doing so make it taste different?
