I noticed this on the Magazine page:
Use the password you received when you ordered the magazine to access each meta so that you may submit and check answers on-line.
Does this mean that the mag is subscription-only? Or am I barking up the wrong end of the stick?
If not, and the mag is freely available, then how would I be able to access the meta?

No, the magazine itself will not be freely available - you will have to buy it. And because this is a small-scale operation, you are not going to find it in WHSmiths - it must be bought by mail-order from here. However in the short term we are only going to be selling single issues - we're not expecting people to commit to some form of annual subscription straight away! (Although this option is under active consideration.)
Likewise, because this is a small-scale operation, the cover price is mostly to cover the printing costs; at present this is merely an extension of our hobby, and we aren't expecting to necessarily break even instantly. But naturally, the small print runs that we are contemplating are quite expensive, hence the higher price than you would pay for newstand publications.
This website should be considered to be more of a support service, both in the shape of this forum (so that you can ask for help or hints from other solvers) and on the main site where electronic versions of the puzzles will also be available, but only to purchasers. At some point in the future, the magazine puzzles may well be made freely available, but no decision has been made about this.

I think yer (deliberately?) misunderstood what I meant by 'freely available'. I wasn't asking if they were available fer free, but if they were available freely, i.e. available to the general public.
But as I ain't got a credit card or chequebook, I'm jiggered. Unless y're willin' ter accept cash thru the post.
And what are new stand publications?

Actually, I also slightly misunderstood something, because my phrasing on the website wasn't very clear.
You can solve the whole meta-puzzle just by having the magazine; you don't need to be able to access the puzzles on-line in order to be able to find the final answer - everything you need is in print. But the on-line version will let you confirm your answers and keeps track of your solutions which may be helpful.

I cant wait!!!!
Gill gave me a nudge to let me know I had to order early as I'm in Spain so I did, 2 seconds after she told me. Your doing a great job.
DVP used to get the magazine to me 2 weeks after everyone else which was a bit of a pain as I couldnt join in the banter as much.
Look forward to getting magazine and sitting staring at it and probably wondering why do I even try these things and then getting on the forum and asking everyone for the answers lol.
Lets rock.

My thoughts exactly
[*] especially now I'm battling with Puzzletown and getting nowhere fast on some of the puzzles.

I'm getting nowhere fast on *all* of the Puzzletown puzzles! (well, ok, so I've done the Sudoku, but I was so shocked I managed that, I had to PM Scurra to tell him!). What's frustrating is that I know I did the Gallery a couple of years ago, but I just can't remember the answer!
At least I'm up to 16 animals in the Zoo now, which is an improvement!
