Take care and safe journey to all who are out and about in the snow.
I am hoping my youngest catches the last train home from London tonight and doesn't end up somewhere where I will feel obliged to go out to fetch him.

Wise man, Evilkeen. :D

I haven't been outside the house all day (this is almost unheard of for me). I WON'T drive unless it's totally unavoidable. I've watched too many people NOT getting up my hill.

Instead I've spent 5 HOURS wrapping presents. And still haven't finished.

Pleased to report all I had to do was meet him with his wellies and a torch. And I only fell over once. :D

Bed time now I think. Dreading having to go to work on Monday.

Is driving unavoidable to get to work then?

Bluntly, yes.
I could catch two trains which don't connect as it is one for one stop towards London and one out again on a different line. and a 15 minute walk to the station and a 20 minute walk the other end. All for a journey that takes 20 minutes to drive. (in good weather)

Oh, you be careful then, won't you? No chance you could work from home then? :)

Sore point that. Basically everyone else in the office can work from home but the powers that be in Memphis are dragging their feet over setting me up so that I can access the accounting systems from home. :( The request was only made about 2 years ago.
I might have to plead with my boss and see if he will pick me up as he has a jeep.

Well I think that sounds sensible.

Take it as a compliment LAT, clearly they value your personal presence so highly, they don't want you working remotely!! :D

I wish I could do my job remotely. It'd be a damned sight quieter.

I'm not so sure it is a compliment. They are in Memphis, I'm several thousand miles away. I think they just don't rate my request as important.

I went ice skating this morning. (Between the house and the car) It was a case of take one step and then slide the rest of the way. I have since been out and salted the drive, in the hope that it will improve matters. It was a bit hair raising trying to get my car back on the drive without hitting OH's  (That would not have gone down well after how long he has waited for it)

OH's just been outside pushing the umpteenth person out of the middle of the t junction.
Then he's started clearing our drive and now has a long line of old ladies fluttering their eyelashes at him hoping he'll do theirs too...

For anyone who may be attempting the M62 east anywhere between Leeds and Hull its quite bad in places. The outside lane is snow covered and only fools are using it. There is more thick snow coming down too.

My daughter has just arrived back from Newcastle (phew). She said it was snowing hard in Yorkshire but that by far the worst snow and roads are here! We are on the edge of the Chilterns so we are quite prone to snow. That's why I was so panicky yesterday - I haven't dared to go out in the car here - it's lethal. Mind you, my Dad's just phoned and said they had about 5 inches of snow last night (he's in Essex). Looks like our planned visit might be a bit tricky. :x

Could I just take this opportunity to thank you all for your updates, advice and kind offers of help and hospitality. You're such a lovely lot of people. I really appreciate that. :D

No snow here in Budmouth Regis. We did have a very brief blink-and-you-miss-it sprinkling on Friday, but other than that it's been sunshine, cloud, rain or frost.

Every time I've been speaking to my son (in Falmouth) he keeps saying "it's really sunny here". He has snow envy. Still, trains willing he'll have plenty when he gets home tonight! :D
