You could go and get a cup of tea at Scurra's...
I know nothing about London. Because I live about 30 miles away from it I avoid it like the plague. When are you coming down?

Re: stuff to do in london
If you dont know London at all I'd buy a tube pass, plan routes and go and find all the things you haven't seen before. Beware jumping on the tube at every opportunity, often its quicker to walk between stations than it is get the tube. You will often find that there are only yards between stations.

All the main art galleries and museums are free to get in although you would have to pay for some of the special exhibitions. And the galleries often have free talks at certain times about some of the exhibits which are usually very interesting. A good way to spend an hour or more.
Re: stuff to do in london
tube pass? nooo
i was thinking oyster untill i worked out a 7day travel permit for trains buses and the underground was cheaper its a little less than £30 considering my travel to and from the hotel+the three days im there thats the cheapest option theres some 2for 1 offers too....
i was thinking oyster because of the cap which puts the max spend = to a one day pass
(was 50p cheaper till this year)
im a puzzler i reaserch automatically
oh btw i vaguely remember a picture in london relating to the other place was its location ever found?
(and if so where was it? so i can go and post a copy of it
)

No, we never located that mysterious place - although heaven knows I think SparkOut and I (separately) probably spent far too long looking for it!
As for travel, you should bear in mind the "bus only" option. I almost never go by tube in London; buses are more convenient - and flexible, since bus stops are more frequent.. And the combined ticket is more because tube fares are noticeably more expensive (~£25 v ~£17, assuming just "central London" travel.)

Re: stuff to do in london
I've never quite understood the logic of how I can get an all day travel pass and travel into London and have unlimited tube travel for £18 a day, but if I got the tubes separately it would cost a fortune. (Not that I use tubes unless it's unavoidable, as you know
). So when are you here Clvrlad? (Or are you not telling so I can't sabbotage your trip?)

Re: stuff to do in london
Give us a bit more warning next time, and maybe a couple of us could meet you?
I'm sure Scurra and maybe LAT would be up for a mini meet...? Maybe we could convince a couple of others in the vicinity? I might even consider getting on a train again (but you will have to put up with me being a gibbering wreck for a while).

Well if I hadn't been dying* over the last couple of days, I'd have tried to arrange something.
Anyway, it sounds as if you managed to see about 1% of what there is to see
(*OK, just a bad case of "man-flu". I don't get things like that very often, so it caught me by surprise.)
