I once had to catch a french horn mid concert, when the hornist fainted. I was holding my bassoon at the time, so couldn't catch her, but managed to grab the horn as she collapsed.

As an Old Girl of Kingsley's school, I have extra reasons for wishing her sister well :D :D (though as my OH went to Fernando's, I suppose I have to concede that either will do  )

Thanks, well first show is done. I'm absoluetly exhausted. Doing a dress rehearsal and then a performance means I've pretty much been blowing one instrument or another solidly from 9.30 this morning until 4.00. The others shouldn't be as bad. Also with an audience of all year 6 kids, some of the jokes fell a bit flat, while others ('you look like a big buffalo'), got a ridiculous amount of laughter. And the whole band was there for the first time today, and we've now played everything at least once, so that feels a lot better.

Sounds good Laura, hope the rest of the day went as well.

Sorry clvrlad, I have to go to work tomorrow so no day trip to London for me. :(

I had a frustrating day today. I got up early (for me) knowing I had a busy day at work only to find an inch of snow had arrived in the night. Still, I thought, I'll give it a go carefully. Got out of our road OK and drove carefully towards the local shops only to find traffic at a standstill in all directions. In the end I turned the car round and abandoned it and walked back home as I didn't want to chance my luck driving down the icy roads a second time. Seems there were at least three different accidents within a mile or so and all the roads were almost completely blocked. In the end I went to work by train which is a stupid journey as it involves 2 trains in different directions and takes about 4 times as long as it should to drive. And then, of course, I had to reverse the journey to get home again.
And now tomorrow I will have to work extra hard to catch up with what didn't get done today.

...Helping my daughter make resources for tomorrow. She's doing a primary school placement and needed to teach year 2 about pulleys or winding mechanisms. Two different sized cardboard tubes, some ribbon, a pompom and garden wire "Incy Wincy" spider later, a plan for using some cogs and things with Knex, and...bish bash bosh, sorted. Nothing if not inventive...

Did you fancy playing the Incy Wincy character then?
