It might just be the cold affecting the sensors. I had a similar problem with my last car *- as soon as the temperature went below -5 it started bleeping at me and flashing signs on the dashboard telling me to stop immediately or I could cause serious engine damage!! Obviously that really freaked me out, and so I had to get it straight away to a Mazda dealer. When I got there, there was an identical car there with exactly the same problem!! My new one doesn't do the same thing though, thank goodness. Hope you get it sorted out ok Tricia.

* So maybe my husband did me a favour by writing it off for me, after all...

I've spent 3 hours today making spreadsheets. My most hated activity, but sadly unavoidable. How ANYONE can do things like that all day is beyond me. I was just about climbing the walls. Periods 1 and 2 were so much better - working in A level Physics, leaving them doing some boring balancing experiment while Janet and I tried on red cowboy hats, danced with the life sized skeleton and tried to remember how to sing the periodic table song.  (And no, OF COURSE we didn't distract them...)

I had a really weird thing with my car - it is a hybrid (part electric) - my brother calls it the "milkfloat"

I parked in a car park in cambridge and when i returned the battery was completely dead and had to call the rac which took ages just to get it started.

no problems for the next week

then i went to cambridge again, parked in the same carpark, 2 hours later completely dead had to call the rac

I havent tested this theory a third time but wondered if there was something nearby that affected the electric battery starter. This was about a year ago now and no problems since - garage checked it out between the two visits and they couldn't find anything either. How weird!!

i suppose i should be grateful it isn't accelerating out of control!!

OMG that's made me realise the same is true of me. HOW depressing. :o Mind you it's probably slightly more depressing for the poor s*d who married me...

I just got an invite to a friend's birthday party. On the front it says " Please come and help Lou celebrate her 25th birthday x2."

i once got invited to a 15th which was actually a leap year so she was actually 60 which i thought was quite cool.

We have just been invited to a wedding - we don't get many wedding invites at our age as they are already married or decided not to. - this got us thinking (if their biological clock is just ticking at late 30's) and we were the same then our children would be 7, 6 and 2 instead of 20,19,and 15- and we decided that we could not cope with that at our age - so we obviously made the right decision to have them younger. - at least they can be our taxi service now:)

Well, yes, that does come in quite handy sometimes, especially since my daughter is a teetotaller. But having said that people who start their families later have had more time to be out and being free and single before they settle down. It probably isn't such a shock when you end up staying IN all the time because a) you're doting on your offspring b) you're broke!!

i wonder if they get stuck in their ways - all the older parents i know dont take it in the stride but have become quite used to their own ways and expect the child to fit this rather than adjust to the childs needs (as you have to at school with the different childrens needs) whereas the younger ones just take life as it comes. - obviously i am not an expert - it must be down to personality in the end. - I was certainly a lot more willing to put the children first and try whatever was necessary when they were younger but then as i unfortunately lost my first that might cloud our judgement.

Feeling that my son is probably killing this for me at the moment (perhaps i should have had him when i was a lot younger and full of energy) with his revision technique of world of warcraft will see me though the GCSE's. - no problem - and why should I revise.

Well mine are 20 and 22 and I'm still a taxi service for them when they are home. And I passed the 'been married longer than been single' point a few years ago. :( What a dreadful thought! I must have been a child bride. :?

You're making the wrong type of spreadsheets

I've got a spreadsheet somewhere with 6-letter 'words' and piles of cryptic clues... Must track that down again ;)

I was using some of my self-created spreadsheets this morning to help a group of adults with learning difficulties in doing maths. Number bonds (to any number) / coins to make up 10p (or other values) / fill in the blanks counting in 2s (or other tables). Great fun as they aim for the box to turn Green and say "Yes" rather than going Red and saying "Try Again".

[What sort of spreadsheets WERE you creating?]

I've been doing them again today. :( I got so bored that I ended up going and hijacking a really naughty boy from his IT lesson (I knew that they had a cover teacher and there would probably be a riot in there, so the teacher would be pleased if I removed him). He's always fine with me, so I spent a happy half hour finding gruesome world war one pictures with him for his Trenches project instead and being told awful jokes!!!  The teacher thought I had lost my marbles "you are VOLUNTEERING to spend time with HIM? " But then I always get on with the naughty ones. Can't think why...

Still had to go back to the blasted spreadsheets again after though. Sadly they don't disappear.

...to a concert this evening. English Chamber Orchestra and John Williams on guitar. Very good all courtesy of Kingsley's school who were given the tickets free and then couldn't find enough children to fill them, so I asked if I could go too. (Cut down on the to-ing and fro-ing for me too)

Sounds good giraffe! :D

I've been doing lots of boring things involving spreadsheets and invoices at work. And this evening I made fudge so I can give some to my aunt who is going to be 90 tomorrow.
