That sounds cool, Giraffe! Lucky girl!

What an intelligent solution to a problem. You struck lucky there - for them having the tickets, and the idea to use them rather than waste them.

Why does my Sis get on with the naughty boys? I've got NO idea

Clvrlad is on the right lines about getting the kids to do your work for you - but are these spreadsheets you are CREATING 'office' based work, or classroom teaching type work? The reason I ask is good spreadsheets are 'created' once and then 'used' for ages afterwards to do most of your work for you. It took me longer to create my Ceasar Shift spreadsheet than it would have taken to solve one or two clues... but once I'd done the work, I never need to solve another clue coded that way. [Am I making any sense here???]

As I often say, it's always good to get a lazy person to do a job like that. Because they will spend ages making sure they never have to do it again :D (Yes, I'm obviously speaking from experience here. I just wish I could do that with the puzzle creation!)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Yep, that's why I do spreadsheets as well. To save me time in the long run. Not convinced it does though! (and yes, I'm generally v.lazy)

And Giraffe - envy. That sounds like a wonderful concert! Enjoy!

Today I've been sticking up pics and banners ready for my boss's retirement. Been at the Council around 40 years and is finally retiring. Really doesn't want to go either, but then, he's one of those people who loves their job and will be missed. Luckily he's arranged to work an average of 1 day a week for the next couple of years to do all those jobs no-one else wants to! So we've a little while still to pick his brains!

Unfortunately I couldn't get the naughty boy to do the spreadsheet for me. Two reasons:
1. He's so thick that he routinely deletes all his work from his own username by accident. In fact, after 5 months of work in IT (I'm not in every lesson to supervise what he's doing) he has precisely 3 pieces of work to show for it.
2. It's stuff to do with other pupils' exam entries and access arrangements so it's confidential.

He was simply a diversion for me because I was so intensely bored. And if I had my way I would handwrite lists for the exam access arrangements. Sadly, they need to be used by the exams officer, the SENCo, and the senior leadership team. I also use them for post examination analysis to prove to the powers to be what a wonderful job we do. I'm almost positive there must be easier ways to do what I'm doing, but since the school is so tight that they won't pay for any training for me, I just have to do what I can with my extremely limited, self taught knowledge. In an ideal world I'd get MBH down here for a week, paid, to sort me out. Unfortunately that's about as likely as me being picked for the front cover of "Anorexic monthly".

OK perhaps I should rephrase that.

......... at a 90th birthday party. :D (my cousin hosted a lunch for her mother/my aunt)

My two came home for it and my cousin's three children were all there - it is the first time I can remember us all getting together for very many years. Quite possibly since my son's christening about 20 years ago!!

... doing a panto. This one was not as stressful as the last one - far less lines to remember - but I did have two solos to sing, which was a tad scary. It went ok. We're not a very professional drama group; there were lots of very scary moments where no-one seemed to know what should be happening next, but we got through it all. Had my hair done this morning to look 'Princessy'. It took the hairdresser 15 minutes to put it in, and me 30 minutes to get it all back to normal again tonight.

Today I have been setting up my new lap top - just managed to load the programs. I dont have a wireless connection as yet so in the afternoon I am off to purchase a wirless connector. As I know notheing of this any suggestions would be appreciated. My interne supplier is BT and currently my computer is in one of the bedrooms and there are 2 walls betwwen the distance is probably no more than 15 feet if this is relevent.

Isn't that something to do with that new fangled electrickery? Sorry, Tricia, but I can't help. It'd be a case of the blind leading the blind. I am impressed you could load stuff on it though. I wouldn't have known where to begin. :D Have fun with your new toy!!

Hmm, not sure whether there are any pics. If there are, I don't know who has them. I'll see what I can find out. And MBH, it's not early for panto season, it's late for last Christmas's panto season. However, we have been known to do panto in April, so this one was not too bad!!!

Tricia, we have a Linksys wireless thingy which seems to work fine and over a greater distance than you are talking about. A chap at work recommended it to me as it is what he has at home. (And he knew he might get asked for help so at least he would be familiar with the kit!) I think I bought it through Amazon or possibly Argos though. Hopefully wherever you go to buy if it is a computer shop will be able to give advice on the pros and cons of what they have there.

I think ours is a Linksys too. (and our broadband is BT) My laptop was fairly easy to set up, and I think I even got it to talk to the wireless thingy on my own, although the wireless thingy was already up and running, talking to OH's laptop, so I just needed the password.
