Dreadful news, Fraggle. I'm glad they are all safe, though.

My daughter went to see Alice in Wonderland at the weekend with a friend but they had a choice of which version they wanted to go and see - the 2D or 3D - they chose the 2D version as they didn't want to sit there with the specs on. If you want to go and see it, check your local cinema to see if they're offering the 2D version as well.
p.s My 6 year old son has an imaginary friend called Johnny Depp - he lives in his bedroom, though I've never seen him - yet!

Having a great day so far. I've had loads of lovely presents (I now have no fewer than TEN new tops - as my friend Gill observed, I now have no excuse to go topless. ). I also got a book, some earrings, some much needed jeans (last ones spectacularly ripped last week), a swimsuit, a £25 M and S voucher, and CDs: Norah Jones, Paulo Nutini, UB40, Corinne Bailey Rae. I've had masses of beautiful cards, and got treated to lunch by my friends Janet and Sue today (unexpectedly). :D

Even at work it wasn't too bad - period 1 the year nines were shocked when the male science teacher gave me a great big kiss as soon as I walked in the classroom (that'll be round the school like wild fire already!) Period 3 I had my lovely year 9 English group doing cartoon versions of The Sentry by Wilfred Owen and Dulce et Decorum Est. Trouble was that I have to keep my mobile on as I'm the emergency call number for my mum (she has a piper alarm). And I think half the world and his wife texted me today to wish me a happy birthday!! The kids did find that quite amusing though. Period 4 I bunked off to go to the pub (although since I'm owed at least a week's worth of time in lieu I don't feel bad about that) Period 5 was spent getting the kids to write instructions to make a paper aeroplane, and then making them.

I'm being taken out to dinner tonight with my husband, daughter and her boyfriend.

I'm a lucky, spoiled bunny, aren't I? :D

Having it pointed out that I have contributed over 20% of all posts on this forum. I think I need to shut up and get a life. Apologies for the continuous stream of verbal diarrhoea...

But then, let's be honest, it's only because Fraggle's all loved up now... Otherwise SHE'd have talked for the other 80%...

... photocopying and cutting up. My copy of the new Mag arrived in the post yesterday (even though I'm actually making progress with one puzzle from the online version :o )

Looks like a couple that I've got an initial handle on (although the lable may yet say "Other Way Up"), so I'll see how this issue goes :D

Great looking issue yet again. Not a poem I've ever read.

I've bin

NOT working today (phew) and instead of doing horrid things like washing and cleaning (which I should be doing) I went out with two friends to Wendover / Princes Risborough area (out near Chequers). We had intended to go for a healthy walk in the countryside, but it was sleeting and hailing. So we had a bit of a drive around, drooled over some of the multi million pound houses there and then went for lunch. This being the THIRD time I've eaten out this week. At this rate I'll have to start selling my body (by the pound obviously, I'd make a lot more that way) to pay for it all. But it was very nice, any way!! :D :D

Yes, me talking to myself again. I'm just about to tackle putting a self-assembly bird table (which I was given for my birthday  -sorry to sound ungrateful but I don't like to encourage the birds because I have a killer cat). What do you reckon my chances are of getting it put together correctly are? Poor birds will be taking their lives in their hands landing on it...

...so, what's everyone else up to? All left the country?

Nope, but I've finally finished this term's music reports, so I'm back in the land of puzzlebrains (which is not quite the same thing as the land of the living), and attempting to get started with the Butcher. I'm quickly beginning to suspect that this is not as straightforward as it seems, but then they never are....

Straightforward? These are SCURRA's puzzles! Bet you're relieved to have finished the reports though. Phew. Well done! :D (As you can see I'm still putting off the bird table...)

...looking at the bathroom cabinet I bought in IKEA 2 weeks ago. It is so heavy I'm sure it will fall off the wall if I assemble it and manage to hang it. Not sure it was a good idea, but since it was more than 2 years since my mum gave me some money towards it I thought I ought to show willing. Perhaps you could attach your bird table to the bathroom wall and I could leave my cabinet in the garden?

 I think a bird table on the bathroom wall would be quite a novel idea. Pretty funky!

We've lived here for over three years and it would be nice to have a mirror somewhere other thatn the downstairs loo so perhaps I'd better persevere.

You could have all my mirrors if you like. Then I could pretend I was 9 stone.
