.... realising that the headache I've had for the last 3 weeks is because of my new glasses  Took my glasses off last night, haven't had a headache since! Think I might be visiting the optician tonight....

Oh that really is annoying, isn't it? Mind you, my mum got a pair made up and when she took them back, they asked what was wrong. She said, well, I can only see out of them if I wear them like THIS (and turned them upside down). They'd put the lenses in the wrong way round!!

..oh yeah and I meant to say, yesterday I got into work and there were police all over the place - there had been a break in, and they'd trashed the school office, slashed through screens on computers, broken into the canteen and emptied all the food from the freezers all over the floor. Mindless thugs.  The police are becoming quite a regular feature - last week we had a PARENT in threatening one of the heads of year. Shame this didn't all happen when the A level media pupils were filming a staged scene of crime 2 weeks ago!!! :D

 I don't know how to use those fancy cameras they have! I just get to do the boring analysis stuff, not the running around the school dressed as Bugsy Malone and splatting unsuspecting teachers in the face with custard pies whilst filming (which is what they did last year!!!)

though i'd share with you an item of news on reporting Scotland.
A dog owner was becoming increasingly concerned that his dog was vomiting and loosing weight. The vets did an x-ray and suggested the dog had a growth. The owner took the dog to the Vet Hospital in Glasgow - where the operated and found not a growth But a full sized Rugby Ball. Dog and owner fine now but the rugby ball is being held as a trophy in the Vet school. The dog is still chasing balls ........though much smaller

Tricia :o
ps just heard it again and the vet school said it was 10 inch rugby ball and the dog was a labridor
Curiosity killed the cat But satisfaction revived it!!

Those who ask can be helped

....getting frustrated! Having got my laptop working again, I've come into work today. Up until around 15 mins ago, I couldn't access internet at all (which was frustrating when I wanted to check the cricket score  ), but everything else was fine (if v.slow). Now the rest of the network has crashed but the internet is back working!
I do like the way IT keep assuring us that the network issues at the moment are not virus related, after all the problems we had a year ago!
I'm not as frustrated as my colleagues though - they're the ones with complex jobs that need to be completed by the end of the financial year...

I'm sharing a laptop at the moment, as mine has gone away to be de-virussed. I'm missing it terribly, and I keep remembering important things that are on it, that I could do with having back, and not being wiped off. Like the timetables and invoices for school for next term that took many hours to get sorted out properly. Fingers crossed it comes back ok.

Just DON'T get me started. Our school network is nothing short of ridiculous. I have my admin periods in 1 hour bursts. So can you imagine how annoying it is that it takes about 10 minutes to log on to the network, 10 mins to log off, and every time I use the staff shared area it has disappeared so I have to reinstall it? Oh yes, and when I check my e mails I have to wait for 5 mins to log on to the county council website, and then more often than not, any documents I am sent are scrambled and unreadable!! Oh yes, and my laptop has randomly started to "moo" at me every time I open it up. Yes, really. It MOOs.

I HATE COMPUTERS.

Sorry, that should have been on the whinge thread...

Well, I wouldn't put it past him, but if he's travelled 350 miles to come and play a prank on me and NOT stopped by for a quick hug and a cuppa then he's in SERIOUS trouble...

As I read down the thread, I had exactly the same thought (about other culprits). There's NO way I'd miss out on a hug off my twin.

However.... Pranks? Any ideas Sis?? It is an easy 'fiddle' (if the Moo sound is already available). Anybody had access to your laptop???

Blooming kids, I expect (or maybe naughty teachers). Honestly, who'd work in a school that wasn't a fool? (Look at that, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it...)

I'll go and pay ANOTHER chocolate-bearing visit to the IT men, just in case it's a virus. But I personally suspect fiddling  Still, at least it still works.

Yeah, IT men are definitely dodgy. Look at Scurra, for example...

Not much. But I'd quite like to see Scurra dangling from wires...

...did I say that out loud?

It's been a bit of a sad week really. One of the lads who left the 6th form last year was killed in the village on his moped. Apparently he was trying to avoid a big pothole, the road was wet, and his bike went one way, he went the other. This is the second tragic pupil death this year. It has been a sombre week indeed at work (his brother is in year 11). It makes me realise just how fragile life is. :(

Maybe now the council will fill in some of the potholes - do you think?
