Today I've been waiting for our 30,000 post. Anybody want to guess who it went to? Thought not

Whats worse is she didn't even have the decency to put it on the public forum. Just to make absolutely certain the post 30001 went to the same person too

...wondering WHY I thought it was a good idea to dance for hours last night, in heels AND do "Oops upside your head".

Oooh me knees, me inner thighs, me back, me pounding head...

I went to a 25th x2 birthday party. We got my daughter to drop me, my husband my sister in law and mad brother in law off. Well, that was a challenge in itself (I'm the shortest at 5'9"", right up to 6 '4", so you can imagine what it was like fitting 5 of us in a Toyota Yaris for a start). The party was in Chorleywood (posh place with lots of squiddly little lanes and massive houses). The sat nav took us to a particularly teeny, potholed lane and told us we'd reached our destination outside an old people's home in the middle of nowhere. We drove up and down a few times and couldn't find it (as we did, there were about 5 other cars doing the same thing). Eventually mad b-i-l decided to go and ask at the old people's home. Trouble was, he didn't have his specs with him, and he's quite deaf (on account of chainsaw use). I went to see what was happening, and it transpired he'd been pressing entry pads and a giant alarm bell instead of the doorbell. So I think he had probably woken up all the old people. Eventually two terrified looking Asian care assistants came to the door (refusing to open it) and shouted through that they didn't speak English. (Sort of makes you wonder how the old people communicated with them but there you go). We were starting to worry we'd have to go and play bingo and listen to Max Bygraves instead of the party.

Still, eventually found it. Although what I couldn't believe was the number of CHILDREN and BABIES there. The music was so loud that my ears are still ringing this morning. I dread to think what that did to theirs. :o

I remember going to a wedding once, where the music was so loud that you could feel the whole room vibrating and there was a small child fast asleep on the dancefloor.

We've spent the day (and part of yesterday) at a music festival. It was a very long day today, not helped by losing an hour's sleep. Kingsley had 7 classes, with a duet and trio in one class and accompanied her little sister too and was so shattered that she didn't really want to do the last class, but she played beautifully and won the class, so it was worth staying to the end. All 3 children came home with a trophy or two, but the competition was stiffer in some classes than others. More importantly they have had great fun and heard some good advice on how to improve their playing.

That kind of day is SO tiring, isn't it? I think sometimes it's the stress which goes along with it that makes you so shattered. But I'm so glad that it was all good fun and that they were so successful. Well done! :D

... hanging around Blackpool with Jennie the Yorkshire Terrier until my OH had finished with the last day of a 'fitness convention' that she had attended. It was a 3-day event so a couple of restful days for me [... honest I did LOOK at a couple of puzzles]

Many congratulations to the junior giraffes :D A very talented family.

 Isn't Jennie a bit small to do 3 day eventing?

Very proud LAT. Particularly with the clarinet recital

Yes Bunnylump, very stressful, although when Kingsley plays the Clarinet at least i remember to breathe. When she plays the piano I nearly suffocate, particularly if the piece is long. I think the dancing Turks had been drinking (Mozart -Rondo a la Turqua ) (no idea how you spell that) but they managed to keep dancing

  Sometimes you crack me up, Giraffe. That conjured up quite an image!!

Oh, I know EXACTLY what you mean about the not breathing thing. I nearly passed out when my daughter did her final performance for her degree. That was 20 minutes of excriciating panic. Oh, but just before she went on, she'd played it right through to us in a practice room, and it was so beautiful it made me cry. :) My son's never gone down the performance route (he plays / writes music for his own pleasure) but it was a similar feeling watching him when he did his East England basketball trials. After that my chest hurt and i thought I was about to have a coronary. :o

I, however, have no talent of any description, so I never put my Mother through any of this.

Thanks a bunch to the pair of you :P I've now got the vision of the poor old girl being ridden around by Red Fraggle - and we all know how much SHE loved dogs

There may be a few stumbles around the course due to age (No - Jennie, not the rider), but she's still enjoys a bit of 'agility' work, so there'll be no "refusals" :D

Yes indeed - special congratulations to all and especially Kingley who clearly worked so hard and did triumphantly well :D :D :D . Yes, I know it is nerve-racking, but -wow- fantastic fun to share in the music with everyone else and know that all that practice is really worth-while.
We went to a local concert last week with a 17-year-old flautist who played with the National Youth Orchestra at 12 and had to retire at 14 because you are only allowed to stay in for a limited time. She was terrific!

The adjudicator for the wind classes asked if she could send me details of the National Childrens Wind Orchestra ! (I think she had her eye on the french horn)

having a real blast from the past - have found "tomorrows people" - a program i loved from my childhood on the internet - it is making me laugh it is so dated... anyone else remember it - the haircuts and big belts are quite modern though.

Nice one Biscuit - we must be 'of an age'. TP was one of my early introductions to Sci-Fi on the TV. I felt so different to all the other kids at school, I couldn't wait to 'break out' and start 'jaunting'...... but alas it never happened :(
