Best play I've seen in London was The Woman in Black. Brilliant. Minimal props, but absolutely spine chilling.

We went through a phase of going to see all that LLoyd Webber carp (which is not my cup of tea at all - I HATE the music -although the effects were good in Phantom of the Opera). Oliver was really good. Set was brilliant, and of course the music is brilliant too. Don't know if that's still running though.

Giraffe - Blood Brothers is fantastic, but again, very sad. I wouldn't recommend seeing that and Les Mis in one weekend though! Blood Brothers is very cleverly acted - the same actors play their character as children of 8 maybe, right through to 20-something, and the ending is just heart-breaking.

Biscuit - I think Hairspray might have finished now - that was a very uplifting one, especially seeing Michael Ball as a woman, but I think it's gone on tour. Lion King is very good, and again, it's very clever how they make it work on stage, compared to what it was in the film, and that's a fairly uplifting one too.

...hoping that my flight home wasn't going to be affected - it wasn't, although I had a minor panic getting to the airport when there was actually a problem with the Munich trains (the first one I experienced all week!)

So I'm back and normal service (i.e. my refusal to tell anyone anything) will be resumed asap.

p.s. I'd second the recommendation for Blood Brothers. It's really, really good (mind you, you don't get to run continuously for twenty years if you're not!)

I could have sworn I posted a comment earlier about both Lion King and Woman in Black being great. (in very different ways though) but it seems to have disappeared. :?
Anyway, I really enjoyed both but some years ago for each. In fact Woman in Black wasn't actually in London but I believe was the London production on tour.

today I've mostly bin... trying to work out where I can borrow a laptop power lead from... Mine seems to have given up so I'm computer-less at home (well, unless I use Sigur's, but that doesn't have my email or bookmarks on). I'm pretty sure it's just the transformer on it, which has probably overheated since I do leave the laptop on nearly all the time and the transformer is squeezed into a corner to keep it out of the way of prying fingers, so it's not surprising really! But I don't want to buy a new one in case what's actually wrong is at the laptop end as I've had problems with a loose connection before. So, I need to find someone who'll lend me their power lead so I can test... (of course, the two people who I know would have one are both off today).
Why do laptop transformers 19v and all the other transformers I've got just 12v???

(it's too long since I did my physics A level, but does anyone know if it'd be safe for me to try one of these?)

Just asked OH. He said there are lots of different voltages, and you'll probably find that it wouldn't fit anyway. But he also says don't use one with the wrong voltage - it would be unsafe. And much as I hate to admit it, he does know what he's talking about when it comes to all things electrical (or gas or heating or refrigeration).

Whinging. Suddenly got this mysterious dodgy knee from nowhere which is making me hobble. :( Work is mentally busy and horrid and I'm REALLY grumpy. Anyone got any grumpiness cures?

no i can only add to it

b*****y awful day at work - brother (50 on friday) is having a mid life crisis that he has done nothing in his life and wants to blame everyone around him - brilliant - and its all my fault because i can afford to go on holiday and he cant (he earns more than me and has less expenses as all his children work)... do not work with family or animals isnt that the saying!!!

Blooming men. :x
I came close to handing my notice in yesterday. I'm still VERY tempted. I could be a lady of leisure. :D AND
(sorry this should all be on the whinge thread but I'm too grumpy to go and find it)
I've just heard that someone I know has cancer and is dying. :(
My daughter didn't get offered the job she's spent days preparing for.
I'm sick of working stupid hours for ridiculous pay.
Next door's dog has been barking for the last hour and I could cheerfully shoot it.
My Mum has just announced I have to have my tortoise back (he was mine from age 2 but he lives with her. Stupid thing wakes up in the winter and wanders round her house, pooing.)
and
and
and
OK I'll shut up and go away now. Sorry for the rant.

on you poor thing... the tortoise is just the icing on the cake.

I am pretty stressed at work and thankfully the bank manager turned around and said that he was judging an awards ceremony and one of the guys had lost both his arms in a climbing incident and he had to judge how well he had overcome his disadvantages - makes you think. I was born just after the phlamiamide (excuse spelling) problems and on the way to school i used to pass a girl who had been born with no arms, saw her down the pub as we got older and then driving and becoming an artist - where do these people get the strength from - absolutely amazing.

That was an impressive one!

I spent the day playing with duplo and cars. (Made a nice change from yesterday, which I spent playing with lego) My friend brought one of her babies to see me. :D

Yeah, sorry. I just came back to edit my big moan and you'd already read it. Yes, I do know I'm lucky really, and I do have a lot to be thankful for. It's just when I have my grumpy head on and am feeling sorry for myself. I'll go and give myself a big slap. See if that helps.

And yes, Biscuit, the tortoise is indeed the icing on the cake. Although I have to confess you did make me smile when I thought of icing a cake with a tortoise. So you did cheer me up for a little while. Thank you.

See I would have LOVED to have spent a day playing with lego, duplo or ESPECIALLY K'nex. In fact I think I'll go and find some in the loft and make a giant ferris wheel! :D :D OR my daughter still has her Sylvanian families upstairs. That'd be cool. OOOOOh I know! My dad made me a PopPop boat out of a tin can. I might go and play with that!

Knex hurts your fingers when you try to take it apart, so was never very popular in our house. David's a bit young for it anyway, as he's only just one.

Yeah, I'm old enough for it, though. You need to use that black tool thing to take it apart.
