And there, once again, we have the exact reason why I made arrangements to make it impossible for me to go to University after my 'A' levels. Has nothing changed in 30 years? (Or possibly, has it got worse??)

I seem to be getting better as I get older. A more introverted, shy, tea-total, resistant-to-peer-pressure, ODD teenager you'd have trouble finding.

The extra 30-years of life seems to have brought me out of myself a bit ;)

Well, yes. But we like ODD people on here, don't we?

To me, ODD = unique / interesting. It's NOT a bad thing! ;)

Strangely, this sounds a lot like me at around the same age.
With the exception of the teetotal - but that probably depends on whether you count advocaat and cherry brandy...

Thats not so daft sfter all. Our indian shopkeeper used to make curry on a Saturday and sell it to her regulars. She always used to point out that it would be totally different to anything from an Indian restaurant - as most are run by pakistanis. She was right!!!

I do find that the Chinese food in restaurants here is quite different from the food we had when we lived in Hong Kong about 30 years ago. And I had a meal at a Chinese restaurant in Germany a few years ago and that was different again. I think they adapt their recipes quite a lot to suit the local market.
And there are many different cuisines in China, each with their own ways of cooking food.

Hope they had a great time with lots of lovely food whatever it was like! :D

Well, according to an Indian friend, they invented the ridiculous chicken Phall curry especially for stupid drunk English people!!! She said that no Indian in their right minds would eat anything with that much chilli in it!!

Have you ever had a pizza from Italy? Nothing like English pizzas from a takeaway, and definitely not like frozen ones from a box. But German pizza is pretty much like English.

(I feel that we could probably continue this topic for days. We could get into which country makes the best Chinese takeaway etc.)

Even my son managed to remember to text from Portugal. I nearly forgot to give OH the card from the two of them (that my daughter gave me only yesterday evening  )
