Well done Bunny - isn't it nice when things like that happen.... :D
It makes such a difference when people notice extra effort being made - it's all too easy to take things for granted. Don't give in..... I guess you are appreciated a lot more than you think :D

LOL - No! Usually members of the STAFF.

We were under strict health & safety instructions that no vehicles were to be moved until the area controller gave the 'all clear'. As usual, when the traders figured they could slip off they packed up and made a run for it WITHOUT being challenged

I had my bus ready to leave (this was an Air Show weekend) and I waited, and I waited, till there was myself, a few vans that were not moving, and the fixed displays left. This was still 15minutes before the "One Hour after Public Access" deadline we were supposed to be working on.

So I locks up the bus and walks up to the 'hut' that the controller was working out of.... CLOSED UP AND EMPTY

So I took the bus off the field and left.

It was later that week when I saw the person involved again - in the city centre office. She said "I'm sorry!!!! I was in the bath that night when I suddenly remembered about you"

I've NOT let her forget it

  Just laughing at MBH's story. Bet she felt REALLY embarrassed about that!!

You sound like you've got your work cut out for a bit. Although at least it sounds like you enjoy the shows, even if they are long days. :D

... to see the Jake and Elwood "Blues Brothers" Show at the Sunderland Empire

:D :D :D

I'm now buzzing with great music and a very enegetic performance by the 7 piece band, 3 backing singers, and a very convincing Jake and Elwood.

Special guest stars James Brown and Ray Charles ("Yes folks, we've got all the dead ones"), and the people of sunderland dancing in the aisles.

If you know the film, and like the music, then I can recommend this stage show :D

........watching the rain fall on an empty garden. There should be 3 brickies doing foundations for our new house but they arrived at 8am and after sitting in their van, left at 10am. Here's hoping for better weather tomorrow......

We have just had a lovely sunny dry spell but a few more days would have helped the build.

Lally's birthday today, Izzy had an audition with the junior CBSO this morning, Lally had a piano exam this afternoon, Lally has 4 friends here for sleepover this evening (and I will be imposing bedtime within the next hour, sleep will be happening as my girls have a concert with the county orchestras tomorrow morning)

Sounds like a total nightmare, Giraffe!!!

...almost having a disaster. Remember I said we'd had a massive eucalyptus tree cut down? We got it done for free by my brother in law (it would have cost us hundreds and hundreds of pounds if we'd had to pay) but of course we're left with the tree, all over the garden. So I decided to start to burn some of the smaller logs and leaves (we have 5 massive piles of these.)

Well, any of you pyromaniacs out there would have known this : eucalyptus burns EXPLOSIVELY. It must be to do with the oil in the wood / leaves. It started out with a little gentle crackling, and then suddenly WHOOOMPH. 30 foot high flames!! And our incinerator is right next to two of our wooden sheds and is (was) overhung by trees. I had to get the hose up to the end of the garden and put out the trees above the fire, and to damp down the sheds to avoid total disaster! I also succeeded in melting a composting bin. But at least I didn't set light to the houses at the end of the garden... :?

.... typing to you all from the Sunderland International Friendship Festival (including the Kite Festival) :D

Lovely sunny day here, and I've got my bus set up for the public to come and use the computers. FOR ONCE I seem to have a location that has an internet connection as well

Lots of kites in the blue sky and it looks like a good day.

Forcast for tomorrow TERRIBLE RAIN

To tell the truth one day out of two is pretty good going for this festival - there were a series of years they thought they were cursed

I'll try and get some pictures to share....
