Oh Bunnylump! I can just imagine the smell of the burning eucalyptus oil.

I have got rid of the little monsters and the concert went well. Nice to hear the pieces that they will be playing when they go on tour to France in July.

Wow! That sounds like my kind of bonfire! (Yes, I am a bit of a pyromaniac. My grandad was a miner and so they always had coal fires when I was little. Did you know hard-boiled egg burns with blue and green flames?)

Giraffe, that sounds like an interesting schedule to manage to keep to! Well done!

I've been looking after my lovely nephew Bun! His mum and dad moved back up north last week, and are only an hour away now, so I went up yesterday and spent the whole day turning the meadow at the back of the house (lovely mixture of wild flowers and grasses) back into the lawn it was supposed to be! It took all day, strimming, raking, feeding the grass to the cows at the bottom of the garden, then cutting twice with a lawnmower. We discovered several paths we didn't know were there, and a couple of rose bushes that had become hidden in the mess. Today, Bun has come to visit for the afternoon, while mummy and daddy go to Ikea. I'm loving them being back near here!

Oh Laura - I bet you're shattered after that!! Sort of nice shattered though, if you know what I mean? :D It will be lovely for you to have them nearer. :D I loved it when my brother moved back from London to a mile away from us. My neice was about a year and a half old, and it meant I could get to see her lots more. I always made her and her brother who turned up shortly after all their birthday cakes, and looked after them when I could. I'm still really close to my niece (she's 27 now  - a bit more like a daughter than a niece. Which I love. We still go shopping together and meet up to go out as often as we can. I'm sure we would never have had the opportunity to get that close if she'd still lived so far away.

Don't be ridiculous. I never test anything out or think things through. I just do it and then suffer the consequences...

It seems like ages since I last contributed to this.

But, today I are mostly bin...... spending all day at the Waddington airshow, in a potato field at the end of the runway getting very nearly landed on by various military type very large very loud aircraft sort of flying machine thingies. And, I'm burnt to a crisp and my brain has stopped working.

I've only ever been to one air show in my life. But I was so traumatised that it's put me off ever since. Nothing to do with the aeroplanes, more to do with a "wardrobe malfunction". Which was only brought to my attention AFTER I'd walked right the way across a crowded field at Farnborough...

On reflection, it was quite funny HOW I was told. My friend's little brother (he was about 15 at the time) was walking with me. He finally plucked up courage to say
"Isn't it interesting that apparently nipples go darker than that when you've breast fed babies?"

"Wot?"

We had friends who lived on the edge of RAF Cosford and we went to their house one year to watch the Cosford airshow. I couldn't watch, it made me feel too sick, seeing the planes doing those horrible things where they go vertically up and then seem to fall out of the sky. Never again!

I'm trying to avoid thinking about planes. I've got to get on one in August. :? I just hope they don't do tricks too...

It's the taking off, landing and turning that I don't like about planes. If they are going in a straight line I'm ok. When I flew back from Belfast the bloke next to me was very amused by my white knuckles gripping the seat arms on take off.

Does the straight line include vertical? :D I've done that one on a trip to Cyprus. Plane hit the run way, moved a bit and suddenly we went vertically upwards. Deathly silence on the plane and then the pilot quite calmly anounced " Sorry about that folks, there was another plane on the runway"

I also sat in an aisle seat next to a man who had fingernail scarmarks all down his arms. His wife hated flying but insisted on sitting next to the window and his arms got it

Well, an aeroplane is basically a metal tube filled with explosive that you sit on top of while they set fire to it.
Hope that makes you feel better. :)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

The tube and explosive bit doesn't bother me. It's more when you look out of one window and see the ground and look out of the other and see the clouds it's just very unnatural in the way that sitting in an explosive filled tube, going forwards isnt! Take off and landing are unpleasant because the ground is hard if you crash into it. I never said my phobias were rational.

I'm TOTALLY irrational about spiders too (once had to fetch a neighbour to remove one from the potty when Lally was small!)

I'm in the closing straights of this weekend at the Friendship Festival - but you've reminded me that in 3 weeks time I've got another weekend's work when we do the Sunderland International Airshow :D

Not that I get to see much of the flying, dealing with the public in my bus.

I'm ok once I can't see the ground. If all I can see is clouds, I'm ok. When I look out and see ants which are actually people - THAT'S when I'm freaking out and lacerating the arms of whoever happens to be unlucky enough to be sitting next to me. Same sort of problem when I'm at the top of eg one of those hideous long escalators leading down into the bowels of the earth in an underground station...

...no, that's not been on my mind. Nope, not at all. Never. :?

I'm with you on that one Bunny! Hate those underground escalators. One's in normal shopping centre's are ok, cos you can see the bottom, but I have to stare at the back of the person in front on the underground ones, and pretend I'm not going anywhere!

I don't seem to mind flying, although my ears hate it and I have to spend most of the time sucking boiled sweets, which is about the only time I'll do that (don't like the furry teeth they leave you with).
I do get vertigo on occasion, but usually only when walking too close to the edge of a platform, so not when there's any distance involved! escalators don't bother me, but don't mention them to Scurra!

....mostly bin watching Thomas climb the stairs all by himself! We've been walking him up them for a while, but today he climbed up them himself. Good job Daddy was right behind him the whole way though...
