Me too. I've had a big break from them and my brain is now complete mush. Having said that I did make a point of trying to do at least 2 Daily Telegraph cryptics a day when I was on holiday, so maybe that'll help a bit for the next issue... :? I just don't seem to be able to think SIDEWAYS any more. Which is clearly a necessity for Puzzlebrains. Lord knows what a hash I'll make of the next issue... :?

I'm just a heap in a very quiet house. With toothache :(

And yes, it is nice to get the house to myself. As for puzzles - I'm thinking of starting a jigsaw. I can do them albeit slowly.

Crikey! YHou must have a big house!! I don't think 25 people would fit in my house standing up, let alone lying down...

Have you been meeting up with MBH and eating gobstoppers together???
MBH wrote:"oppositional defiant disorder" ??? Never heard of that one

I'm gathering this is something more than "bad kid who has been allowed to get away with it"?

"Polish elective mute" is a different kettle of zurek

 I was just thinking the same thing when I read that. No, it is a recognised syndrome, often associated with ADHD. (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). I worked with a boy with exactly the same problem for 5 years before. He was a nice boy UNDERNEATH it all, but total nightmare when he went into one. One time he lost the plot with a teacher, and ended up pummelling his fists into a cabinet of school lockers and smashed up every one of his knuckles. He was always very nice to me! I met him about 2 months ago in Sainsbury's- it was the "Hi miss!" you get used to when you work in a school. He's 22 now and is largely settled down. Has a flat of his own, job, steady girlfriend. He said "You know I was only speaking to my mum about you this morning. We were agreeing that neither of us could understand how you put up with me for all those years!"

At least he appreciates you now! :D

And no, I haven't been eating gobstoppers, with or without MBH.

Well that's just POO. It's bad enough having toothache, but if you haven't enjoyed the gobstoppers or toffees first then it's completely rubbish. I'm prepared to bet MBH had toffees or gobstoppers...or ice cream...or chocolate.... If he stuck to Brussels Sprouts there wouldn't be a problem...

No, if he stuck to Brussel Sprouts there would be a problem... just a different problem. Not sure which is worse really? :?

 Well, I'm safe to advise that when he's in Newcastle and I'm in Hertfordshire...

Yeah, but to be fair, I don't think the toothache can be giving you much of a problem from that distance either!

Oi!!! I don't "moan". I've got an initial appointment with the dentist Tuesday morning

Although ice creams, chocolates, fruit chews (not toffee), and other things may have been involved in causing the damage - I've had remarkably few of them in the past month due to the pain of eating things wrong :( So my waistline has probably benefitted from it. [Apart from the fact I found I could eat chocolate buttons or Galaxy counters without it hurting]

For the record, I like fruit and veg as well - including sprouts :D

As for you Sis!
It may well be a bottom-ache you've got to worry about if you keep being cheeky!

Have a great holiday Gill (if you get any HOLIDAY time to yourself that is). See you when you get back.

MBH  I know you don't moan. You never do. That's why I felt able to joke about it!
I can offer a nice line in "thread around the tooth tied to door handle" if you'd like to avoid the dental fees... ;)

I'm beginning to think I'd be better getting rid of the few I've got left and fitting a full set of fakes. Abcesses, root fillings, lost fillings that then have the walls of the tooth break away - all played their part in making me look like a badly carved turnip lantern :(

I have a LOT of bad memories of the dentist chair - so I end up a the point I NEED to go.

I went through a phase of tooth grinding in my sleep. Broke 6 teeth in the space of 2 months. The dentist said he could make me a gum shield. That was at the same time that I had a displaced sacral joint in the lumbar region of my back and needed to wear a corset in bed. I felt like I could quite possibly be the most attractively trussed up package in bed known to man, so declined!!
