2 miles of glorious sands waiting to be explored once he is old enough to wield bucket and spade......
Snatch those moments while you can!
I spent my time with my stomach in my mouth watching a 5 year old reverse bunjee jumping

Strapped into a harness, ever tightening wires, pounding off a trampoline for 10 minutes. He got fed up with seeing how high he could launch himself so added a few back flips for good measure. We had planned to go parascending too but it wasnt windy enough.

One of my Brownies came back from her holidays saying she'd been paragliding. She really did mean the thing where you get strapped into a sleeping bag and launched off a cliff with a kite stuck over her head!

I want to do THAT as well - but every time I see these things in action it's always kids who are on. Not Fair

How did that young man get so big so fast? Wasn't he just born last month or so?
Never enough time to do what we enjoy mucking about with when there's no time to do what we enjoy doing when we aren't mucking about.
I loved the photos you have all posted. Beautiful views and a far cry from the inside of the hotels in Japan and the corn surrounding my fathers new house. (is there anything as boring as sitting on a porch swing watching corn grow?)

Oh, I don't know. I think I could do it!

Yeah. For about five minutes.

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.

Depends if I had some music to listen to and a glass of wine or not...I can be spectacularly chilled in that scenario!!

I've had a really odd weekend- kind of an enforced holiday. On Friday, in Withernsea, I rescued next doors patio furniture that was blowing over our caravan site and stuck it in our spare room (its not pvc stuff either so damaging others property was a real concern!). The weather was atrocious, rang my neighbour who said she'd be here later that afternoon -but I didn't realise how much later -and because we weren't going to bump into each for a few weeks I said I'd wait for her. Colin had to leave because he was working Friday night so I changed my plans to travel from Leeds to London on Saturday to Hull to London and return to Leeds. All was going to plan until 9 am Saturday morning when I discovered that yet another part of the cliffs had disappeared and buses were going a different route that took so much longer because the cliff took the drainage from another site with it so hence a water problem. Because of the weather I've had no internet and no phone either. Not counting that I didn't know if it was my phone or no reception here because of the weather I then turned around and went back to Withernsea and suddenly discovered what people do without phones and internet and what coastal erosion is all about.
We are on the Holderness coast. Apparently it has the highest erosion rate in Europe at 1.8 metres per annum. This obviously only applies as an average. My friend has a chalet and has been here 6 years. When she first bought it she had 5 rows of chalets in front of her. Now she has only 3 and reckons the minimum the sea has taken in that time are 30 chalets, the pub, an amusement arcade and a park. Thats some going in 6 years! Fortunately we are far enough away from the cliffs to see out our lifetime (hopefully!)
As a result I had to make my own entertainment and made a bunch of new friends too. I've been swimming 3 days in a row (inspired by the girl I met on Saturday afternoon who has lost 50lbs since March just by swimming every morning, made more friends by actually joining in with some of the activities that take place here, got taken to a market on Sunday where meat, fruit and vegetables are ridiculously cheap and had lunch out.
I've been invited to a barbecue on Wednesday, invited to the pub later today and have made breakfast for all the early morning swimmers. Its still flippin miserable today but the wind has died down and the rain has reduced to a drizzle. My internet seems to be back but for how long I don't know. It will probably go out when the tide comes in bringing the wind with it. Still waiting for the phone. I have no idea if OH is coming back todaybut if he is he might find me out with my new found friends!

Well that certainly made the best of a bad job, didn't it?

Sounds like you've been having fun!
I wondered why Withensea rang a bell. They study it as a case study for GCSE geography because of the coastal erosion!!

Just posting a reminder to someone (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) that they need to give us an update on Venice. So that we can all drool...

Im off to Holland next Saturday - we are going to South Limburg which borders Gemany and Belgium - the point where the three countries meet is actually the highest point in Holland at 322m ( I think ) above sea level which makes quite a difference from Ben Lomond
Looking forward to it and I shall take some pictures for you Bunny!

I still can't help loving the place in Holland I once stayed in which is called "Driebergen" (near Utrecht)- i.e. "three mountains". Apparently it has three areas that are slightly above sea level....... all in the same place!

Well I'm back now. Totally exhausted after a very full-on weekend combining an office convention with a bit of private sightseeing. Venice was amazing, nothing seems to quite prepare you for the reality of this beautiful city. My first visit but hopefully not my last. As someone said, it is like one giant museum. And we were very lucky with the weather too, warm and sunny the whole time we were there.
