Next thing you know, we will be exchanging tales of insomnia. That should be enough to send the rest of you to sleep.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
absolutely exhausted - am only on here as I am more excited about seeing the new issue than sleeping - it looks great. bit worried about the 3 tries in the password!!!
today i have been at work since 7.30 - worked through to 5.00 pm no lunch break - eat whilst working - then drove to an after work meeting that started at 5.30 to discover at 10.15 when it ended that everyone else had had dinner before they went - now its too late to eat so i am having a liquid dinner (if you know what i mean) - totally wired up and tired out. - these after work meetings are v emotionally draining as it is family and work rolled into one.
Gotta say i used to hate work with a passion - count the hours till i could leave - but since we have had a business coach come in (sort of Gerry Robinson type approach) i am loving it - i now go into work, do what i feel is right and am getting great feed back - i am not saying it is easy and i have one lot of problems to overcome but now feel that i can make a difference and the staff have been wonderfully supportive. would recommend business coaches to anyone (as long as you get the right one)

Good on you Biscuit!
It sounds like you're doing a great job now and they're lucky to have you.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Well it wasnt as bad as all that - just emotionally draining - I can't believe how much I have learnt in the last few months.
But I would say most of my learning or experience is based on bringing up or dealing with children and I think that helps massively in the workplace - it really isnt that different. I think what work needs next are special needs teachers - that really will help . Basically both you and i are dealing with people and trying to adjust the work environment to get the best out of them and to make them feel that achievement.
I always wanted to be a teacher and now I am enjoying that bit at work.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Congratulations Biscuit - sound like you're doing a great job (and getting benefits from it)
I'm having a pretty carp week
A second tooth extraction on Tuesday that feels lilke I've had a punch in the jaw. On the good side I've made my dentist's day twice now - the first time because the first extraction was the most difficult tooth and it came out clean as a whistle, then this time because the SIX people before me hadn't shown up
She was so pleased to have a body to work on
Then when I got home after that I found a "Notice To Prosecute" as a speed camera had clocked me at 38 mph in an idustrial area in Prudhoe. I'm going to have to drive the route again beacuse I'm SURE that are is a 40mph area and I was driving accordingly
I even had the cruise control on
In 30 years driving I've NEVER been pulled for speeding. On motorways I get very frustrated because even at 75mph everybody keeps zooming past me
Yet I get this patronizing leaflet telling me what a dangerous idiot I am and a criminal! I've got some phone-calling to do!!!!
[I know there are purists that think anyone travelling over a speed limit is a maniac, and there are no excuses, but I've got a feeling this site is a 'cashcow' trick that takes you from 50 to 40 to 30 on a road that looks the same all the way - then sticks a camera at the end... there are a couple of others I've seen and recognised as 'sneaky' but havent' fallen for - this was an unfamiliar road to me]

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
It will be a sneaky MBH. We have an area here where the cameras are in abundance. In the built up areas the limit is 40 , but on the rural stretches its 30 and it changes every few hundred yards. Its a nightmare road to drive.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I did get one speeding ticket when I was 18. But to be fair that was a fair cop and I didn't actually get what I deserved in the way of books being thrown at me. I was on my way back from surveying a plot of land with a colleague, with the car full of stripy poles and theodolites, so basically REALLY obviously driving for business. I drove through a 30 mph limit with a speed trap at 53mph.
The policeman who stopped me asked if this was a journey for business or pleasure. I lied and said pleasure, since I KNEW that I was only insured for pleasure, and it actually hadn't occurred to me UNTIL THAT MOMENT that this would mean that I wasn't insured. I'm SO bad at lying that I KNOW the policeman saw right through me, but took pity and just gave me a knowing look. I ended up with a fine and an endorsement.
Still, this cautionary tale of teenage recklessness and stupidity does have a happy ending. It made me realise just how stupid I was. I now drive very sensibly and slowly (well, 99% of the time!). The thing is, when I was 18, I thought, like all teenagers, that I was INVINCIBLE and that nothing bad could ever happen to me. I know better now.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
My, so far one and only, speeding fine was along the A30. I had just gone past a 40mph sign when I saw the flash. I checked my speed and saw I was doing 38 so I thought I'd be fine. Trouble was, there were streetlights which automatically reduced the limit to 30mph.
My OH got caught just a couple of weeks ago in Tunbridge Wells going along a road he used to use regularly up to 4 years ago when he worked there. He reckons the cameras/limit must have been installed since then. He has, however been offered a Speed Awareness Course instead of points and a fine. But he will have to pay for the course. Again, doing 39 in a 30 limit.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
when i got caught speeding i my two oldest were toddlers - i remember getting pulled over for doing 43 in a 30 mile zone and my daughter saying "pretty lights" on the police car. I was not seeing the prettiness of the lights myself. When i duly presented my dv to the police station the officer mentioned that it was a real bone of contention as it was a road with no houses which would normally be a higher mph but the 40 mph started a few yards further and that was why they had a police vehicle on that corner. I know i was in the wrong but with no houses near by - a quiet road - i think the speed limit was in appropriate.
still i have learnt - what i think is funny is even my mum has been done for speeding and she is such a careful driver and it is sort of funny for a grandmother to have a speeding fine:)

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
The worst thing about my speeding endorsement was that when I applied to the Department of Environment I needed pretty comprehensive security clearance. So I had to fill out this marvellous form which asked things like my grandparents' middle names and so on. It took forever, and they were waiting to interview me. So the nice lady who was interviewing me kept popping in to see how I was doing. Of course the medical declaration (where you have to list dates and details of ALL operations and hospitalisations you've ever had!
) took me forever, and THEN... the offence declaration. The lady popped her head round again. She saw me filling out my speeding fine and looked aghast. I had to hastily explain that I WASN'T a mad axe murderer, just a naughty driver at the age of 18!! She looked VERY relieved!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
As this issue is about the missing murderer I have to confess it's probably me.
Yesterday I murdered my OH. Except he's still alive. Bunny will explain cos I'm about to murder somebody else instead and I havent time to explain. I have to be up bright and breezy tomorrow
Today I was prepared to murder the man who sold me my laptop in july/August after I threw tea over my otherwise perfectly good one. Except he was really nice and gave me my money back. Now I'm thinking of murdering the person who sold me the next one ( NOT the one I'm typing on!!)
Tomorrow I may murder Scurra if he cant sort the chuffing new thing out.

Yes, it's true. Gill has the red stains on her ceiling and all over her husband's shirt to prove it.
