Re: On me 'ollidays
Nah, still a girl I reckon. I still refer to myself and my friends as "girls" (well, except for most of my male friends that is, only one of whom is an "honorary girl"). Yes, I am deluded.

You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

I quite like the idea of being an honorary girl.

You can't be an honorary girl unless you are a boy. You are therefore, indeed, a REAL girl.

To keep someone happy, here are a couple of pics. The first one reminded me of something I'm not allowed to discuss.

You can say that again - this is the most amazing place I have ever visited, so impossible to visualise properly until you have seen it for real. Thanks for the picturesLAT wrote: nothing seems to quite prepare you for the reality of this beautiful city.

Re: On me as I couled not go forward to see the war graved(
Pictures of Venice look Fab.
Just returned from south Limbur in Holland .It is in the Hilly part of Holland......Yes there are some Hills. It is in an area where 3 countries meet ...Holland, Germany and Belgium. In fact the Drielandenpunt is or was the highest point in Holland at a height of 322metres. In has since been taken over by a hill i the Duthch Antilles.
The hotel was excellent and the staff extremely friendly ..... the food and Drink was excellent .... so good that more than ever I shall need to shed some weight. The weather was also very kind... the rolling land scape reminded me of some parts of sussex or the lake district. It is a farming area and many of the houses are black and white timberframed houses which reminded me of some parts of herefordshire.
We also drove into Dinant which sits os the river Maas and is ovelooked by a large fortification on top of a rocky escarpment. I have posted somewhere before that I am terrified of heights and the only access to the fortification was via cable car. I had to be physicall led form the cable car by my friend because i could not look down. I have taken some photos and fot my friends to use my camera where I could not take the photo. I neeed to read up on the area and need to check out Charlemagne and his era in history
We visited the American cemetery at Margareet( I think that is how it is spelled). I made it only to the first monument as I could not go forward to view the actual graves( a girl has to cry in silence- does't she.
Every our church bells play very quietly and melodically Stars and stripes which is followed apparantly by the Limburg anthem. The cememtery was immaculately manintained.
We finished off the trip with a visit to maastrecht - a very atttractive city with lots to see. We spent the agfternoon going round the impressive St Servaas Basilica. The stain glass windows are suberb.
I can thoroughly recommend this area, and once I work out haw to do so - I shall post some photos

Not been here for months! You all seem to be enjoying your hols
Being an impoverished pensioner all these exotic foreign places are out.
We went to Dorset (where I had never been before) I think this is Scurra territory isn't it?
Had a few days on the Isle of Wight where Ann's sister lives. Ferry charges to and from are a complete rip off.
Ginormous difference from (to?) Salford and the industrial grime and the weather was so good that I was actually in shorts for a couple of days -- not bad for October. We took a cottage near Evershot which was spot on and would recomend it to anyone wanting a quiet time.
Took a couple of pictures of the Cerne Abbas Giant - but decided not to post them as it might upset some of our male readers! Incidentally the pub called the Giant at Cerne Abbas is the best one for a decent meal at a reasonable price, with THREE real ales and the prettiest barmaid in the south.

Re: On me 'ollidays
Hi Brian! We've missed you.
Yes, it's lovely in Dorset, isn't it? And the Cerne Abbas Giant is pretty upsetting for us girls, too!
Oh, and I think it's Cenwulf who lives in that area*. Sounds like you had a good time there and were lucky with the weather.
*They are very difficult to tell apart, easy mistake to make...
HEH HEH HEH - not sure who that will upset the most.

Don't disappear again. Current issue has a couple of crosswords if you need to quieten Ann down for a bit.

You've met Scurra, so you know what he's like for real. So far you've only encountered me online. But (if you recall my photo) I'm the one with beard AND glasses.Bunnylump wrote:*They are very difficult to tell apart, easy mistake to make
Nice to hear you were in my part of the world, Brian. We get better weather than some places do.
Talking of holidays, the only place I've been this year is the Eden Project - where I made my mark in The Core on the fridge doors using some magnetic letters.

Re: On me 'ollidays
The Eden Project is wonderful, isn't it? I took my Mum there quite a few years ago. I expect it's come on a long way since then.
And don't worry, Cenwulf, I was only joking / winding you both up. After the beard the similarity stops totally. Well, as you say, as far as I know, since I haven't actually met you in person.
I'm very much like Sophia Loren in real life. You'd spot that instantly if you ever met me*.
*And yes, before you all start protesting and being rude I AM JOKING again.

Perhaps we're not YET related.
From what goes on on this Forum (and also went on at DVP), it may only be a matter of time.
