Eating the hottest food I've ever tried. And it wasn't anything exotic either. It was one of the mexican dinner kits, allegedly 'Mild', but even my dad who is a curry fan thought it was about the limit of what he would enjoy. I'm a wuss who thinks the tomato sauce on some pizzas is too spicy. So after downing a whole can of cider, quickly followed by a yogurt, I'm now sucking slices of apple to try to stop my mouth burning.

I'm at some combination of this  and this  right now!

... to an evening at the theatre :)

Since Christmas I've had a voucher for the Sage Gateshead and another for the Theatre Royal - along with a year that's made it impossible to plan anything to allow me to use them.

Clouds and Silver Linings - it means I had a chance to set aside my usual 'musical' or 'comedy' and tonight I enjoyed a Murder Mystery on stage.

An Inspector Morse story called House of Ghosts - with Colin Baker in the lead role. I've got to say he took the part very well and the voice was perfect. Speaking of voices - they made very sure they had a good Lewis to play here in Newcastle ;)

Action on and off the stage was very fast and slick - and the fact that the murder took place 'on stage' in a production of Hamlet led to a nice entrance of the Inspector (who was in the audience for the play).

A very enjoyable evening out :) and I've got some money left over on the voucher so I can see something else later in the year.

Did you know that in the early novels (before the tv series), Lewis was older, larger and Welsh?!

We've just bought tickets to see that same Morse production in a local theatre in a couple of weeks' time. :D

Well, the decorating's done! Now all we have to do is put the curtains up, re lay the carpet, lug our double bed back up the stairway with a bend in it, return all the furniture, and THEN (now this is the hard part) find somewhere to put all the junk we have no room to store. Oh yes, and catch up with all the housework I haven't done all week...

catching up - I lost my internet connection on Friday because of the attrocios weather - tasining cats and dogs and all that - alos high winds

Yesterday went to the craft fare in the secc - almost went overboard. bought some stamping equipment fo card making - Ive previously tried decoupage - But saw a program on TV with Barbara Gray demonstrating a stunning card for christmas - looked quite simple, . She was demonstrating yesterday and she did the same demo as I had seen - at the end she gave me the card she had been making. so now I have something i can try to copy - as most of the budget was blown on that stand it was goodand to wander round knowing I was not going to spend anymore( thankfully)

Now I just have to try and make some cards and fit in some puzzling.

That reminds me of the time when we were on a campsite in France. We looked out of the caravan window one morning to see a camel and a couple of llamas grazing in the field next to us. They definitely hadn't been there the night before  Then later we noticed the posters around the village, the local touring circus had arrived!

PS, someone's mentioned the C word again. ;)

When we took the Brownies away for the weekend, they woke up telling us all that the cows had turned into sheep over night. Hopeless children. The cows were in the next field, they just hadn't looked that carefully!!!!

When we were in Dorset last year, mu husband and I went for a walk round Golden Cap. We were slightly bemused to encounter a group of people taking 5 llamas for a walk... Actually Lady Aran (who lives near us) used to keep Llamas in a field outside her house...no pushmepullyous though sadly.

...Looking at a flat with my daughter. She's thinking of buying her first place. I did feel a bit mean that they were all enthusiastic and I kept noticing things like: there's nowhere to hang washing, there's not enough storage, it only looks big because the show flat is all painted white and has a lot of mirrors in it...etc. But I don't think you tend to think of things like that when you're that age, do you? It was in a nice spot though (built on the site of an old convent).

OK so there was a big top a bit further down the field.  I was still surprised to see the camel though (and something else big, bovine, with horns...buffalo?

I wonder if it is the same circus! It was totally dreadful but the kids loved it (they were very young at the time). They spent the rest of the holiday planning their own show which was only marginally worse.

I've just had a laugh and a strange mental image by reading giraffe's post immediatly followed by strep's without a pause between :D :D

This week has shot by, so the best we've done is got some pumpkin tinsle and "Enter At Your Own Peril" tape around the door and across the window. I'm now dressed in a black cape with a skull impaled on a spear to greet the 'visitors' we might have.

Just had the first crowd..... titchy little things (with about 5 adults including the wolf in a granny's nightgown)... they seem to like the fact we play along with the night.

Spooky Halloween Everyone

I ignore the door if it rings on halloween. (It won't this year as the bell is broken  ) Lally went to a fancy dress party last night dressed as a witch. (red and black striped tights, black skirt , red sparkly top, witch wig and hat.) To my mind if you must celebrate halloween that's how it should be, organised and amongst friends, not knocking on peoples doors and frightening old ladies.
