mostly bin... taking tomorrow off work so I can take Thomas sledging. It's going to be horrid trying to get into work (well, sitting in the office feeling cold and watching the snow fall, anyway - we've not had nearly enough snow to make the journey that bad), so might as well stay at home and do something fun!

Now all we've got to do is make a sledge. Any suggestions? We've got a cardboard box that's around the right size/shape, but I'm not sure if it'll be strong enough when wet. I don't have any experience to base my design on, so am relying on the more expert crafts-persons amongst you to provide guidance!

Plastic trays can be really brittle.

don't have one - hoping I don't have to go shopping...
Mind you, did you see that comment at the end of one of the BBC website reports on the weather? Halfords have ordered an extra 16,600 sledges in anticipation of extra demand!

Around here, they tend to use a carrier bag. But I imagine you'd want to go a little more upmarket than that!!!

As Thomas is still quite small what about a plastic storage box that has sides? Daniel at around 2 -3 used his shell sandpit/paddling pool. Shallow, but sides he could hang on to.

A bin liner works well, but that probably wouldn't be very good for Thomas. The lids of recycling bins are quite good!!

I've just been to see Harry Potter with my friend Jill and her daughter. Jill drove - and because the side roads were so icy she dropped me up the road so I could walk down our hill. As I got out of the car and picked up my bag, I realised it was light, and said "Hang on I think I must have dropped something". But there was a car coming round the corner so she drove off and didn't hear me. It was then that I realised that I had picked up HER bag. So no keys, no phone, no purse. So I walked back round to her house along pavements (quite a way) like glass to get my bag back. And yes, you guessed it, she'd realised and sent her daughter walking back a different way to my house to deliver my bag back. Just walked (skated) back and finally got home. I nearly went over about 6 times.

Anyway, film was good, but I would NEVER have taken children to it!! I thought it was really scary!! If I'd taken my son to that when he was younger he would have had nightmares for months!! There were several children in the cinema who were crying out when certain things happened. :o

Not as scary as the inferi in the previous one!

Lally came with us to see the chamber of secrets when it first came out (she was 3). We were there with a big bunch of K's friends and some of their families as it was someone's birthday party. K was 8 and I remember a couple of her friends being terrified by the spiders. Lally just turned to me when one of the big spiders appeared and said "Is that the Mummy one?" I told her the Daddy one would appear in a minute and she didn't bat an eyelid when Aragog appeared. Meanwhile K's friends were all scrambling to get on the knee of the Mum whose son's party it was.

The only bit that Lally didn't like in this one was the snake attack in Godric's Hollow, but she wasn't particularly upset. Mind you she's read the book so many times that she knew what to expect.

Christmas shopping. ALL day. Complete with a ridiculously sore sandpaper throat and feeling distinctly woozy. But it got to the stage of OMG I have no presents yet, and it was organised ages ago( Iwent with my mate).

We walked around Milton Keynes shopping centre (having taken 2 hours to GET there) for TEN HOURS. We moaned and complained every step of the way like two grumpy old women. Still, now have most of my presents, even if I am half dead...and COMPLETELY broke!!

I started mine today, but by the time I had been to four shops I'd had enough (I have no stamina when it comes to shopping) I think I'll visit Amazon to try to do the rest.

We did consider paying to see Father Christmas in his grotto and insisting on sitting on his knee... But we decided he was probably an old fellow whose knees wouldn't stand the (excessive) weight...

.......busy! :(
I lost most of my working day yesterday because I couldn't get into work which left lots to get done today.
If I can get my car out I hope to get a bit of Christmas shopping done tomorrow.

... given free rein on my working day  Took best part of 1.5 hours to drive to the depot where my bus is parked which is closer to home than ANY other place I could work. Passed a message on to my boss (who I KNEW would be delayed getting in to the City Centre Library) to say I had jobs to do ON the bus. Then got a call from her to say I could use my judgement and take the afternoon off (out of my annual leave) rather than trying to get anywhere else.

Actually had a productive morning (with puzzling thrown in), and then got a selection of out of the ordinary jobs and shopping pick-ups done in the afternoon. Very handy :)

I keep hoping (all week) that since I can't take my bus out [clients too chicken to come out and play] they will give me a snow plough or gritter to play with. If they did I'd run off with it and bring it home to sort out the damned street which I have not driven my car along since Tuesday when it took 4 of us to get it down to the main road

No!! I'm NOT qualified or trained for gritter or plough duty - but it's a nice fantasy

 You could be my new fantasy man. I used to have fantasies about tall dark and handsome strangers with boxes of milk tray, but suddenly a superhero with a snow plough sounds SO much more cool!!

I could certainly do witha fantasy man - with or without a snow plough.
But with would be more useful.

... building a snowman (will post a photo once I've got time to download it)

and rehersing for the concert tonight. Can't believe it's here already...
Just hope we can be heard over the orchestra - especially the tenors, there's only 5 of them there tonight, and they are missing their main volume man.

... shovelling snow.

We had to clear our drive as we need to use the car tomorrow. It's quite a long drive and the one of us who doesn't have a bad back had to do all the shovelling ...
