I can recommend a hand held steamer thingy. I think mine cost about £15. It has so many attachments its the best thing I ever bought. It cleans my windows, spot cleans carpets, blast grease off the cooker top, grouting in tiles, steam cleans my curtains, its uses are endless.

Doesn't knock down walls though!

And I got a wonderful tip from the kitchen man. Have a single unit under the sink and put the washer into the vacant space. Releases a space for another unit. Hopefully, very hopefully, a dishwasher.

Blimey Gill, you must have been horrified with how grimy my house is then, if you do all that cleaning!!

I only do cleaning rarely- life is too short. Thats why I need the steamer- a wet cloth or a duster wouldn't touch the sides

Its a Delta Essentials Hand held steam cleaner. Model 7420. Comes with a 3 year guarantee. UK helpline tel. no. 02392 392 333.

Forget to say you can use it as an iron to steam away creases too. Out of the drier onto a hanger and a a quick flick ;)

I've got one that I bought from Lakeland, specifically to try to degrease the cover for the oven light, and it worked. Also very good for cleaning the inside of the shower cubicle and the door runners. That's a job I find impossible, because the shower cubicle is tiny (have to stand diagoanally to rub shampoo into hair!) , so there's not much room to manoevre. Not tried it on many other things, but maybe I'll follow Gill's lead.

All for making my life easy, have you tried the shower cleaner that you spray on all over the shower after every use? About £1.49 in tesco and Morrisons, maybe less. No need to do anything other than spray. No rinsing, no scrubbing. Glass shower door is always sparkling, no residue scum.

It works on baths and handbasins too for a while. Every 2 or 3 of weeks I give the bath and basin a decent clean. The hardest part is getting everyone to use it everytime. It doesn't work otherwise. I have 3 bottles strategically placed and after a while it becomes just as much second nature as cleaning your teeth.

Can I borrow him for a bit bunny? In July we had the carpenters come in so the bug could finally have her own room. When She and I returned from Holiday in min-august, it still wasn't finished. Oh the room was built, but the doors still didn't have the glass, my shelves were not only not finished but put in upside down. it's now 2 weeks before Christmas and guess what? It still isn't done!

They will remember us when they do the books around the new year and realize they haven't been paid yet either!

Oh HOW annoying!! Mind you, although my OH is good at all this stuff, it generally takes him about 5 years of me nagging him before he starts anything... Fortunately, when he does start he doesn't stop until it's finished!

That sounds vaguely familiar for some reason.

 Yes, it does have a rather scary ring to it, doesn't it?? I'm not as determined as he is though. And he's MUCH more organised, likes lists and things like that. Lists terrify me!

ANYWAY the good news is that Janet just came round (she was at work today) and brought the contents of my pigeonhole with her. I got a big pile of presents and chocolate from the staff AND a £25 M and S voucher from the head teacher!!  (Not quite sure what I did to deserve that, nor did Janet. In fact she asked if I was sleeping with him...*  )

*Although if this was true I'd sort of HOPE for a bit more than that...

My husband won first prize in the raffle at his work today! A big Waitrose hamper. Normally when he wins a prize he puts it back in, as he's the one that draws the tickets, but today he was in a meeting, so they kept the prize for him.

OOh loverly. :D Waitrose hampers are well worth having! :D I'm planning a visit to Waitrose in Snorbins next week for all the lovely, yummy, indulgent Christmas treats. :D The trouble with going there is that I get SERIOUSLY tempted and end up spending ridiculous amounts of money. Still, I seemed to spend loads of money today on a load of average tat from Tesco today...

... having an evening at the Sage - Gateshead (as part of last year's Christmas present).

Had a lovely evening watching and listening to the BBC Big Band with guest singers Todd Gordon and Jacqui Dankworth. The show was themed around Frank S and Ella F as well as the band providing tributes to the bands of the 50s and 60s

I'd not heard of Todd Gordon, but he had a good voice on him and a lovely style with the audience in the 'chat' parts between the numbers. As for Ms Dankworth - she's taken what genetics could give her, added the nurture of her upbringing, and made the result her own. Brilliant evening.

I'm buzzing with music now, and I'll be checking out a could of songs I'd NOT heard of that were mixed in with all those ones I knew all the words of.

It is far too long since I've seen and felt the power of the music of a 'Big Band' - I wish I could visit the Sage far more often.

Sounds fun MBH! Glad you had a good time.

Just crawled out of bed. Had office do last night (ooh me head!) but the worst part is my FEET which are not used to dancing for 3 hours on very high shoes... It did make me laugh though, my boss insisted that I danced on the carpet NEXT to the dance floor. She's really short and of course in my high heels I was 6 foot tall... I think she felt intimidated...

...and now I've spent about half an hour blow drying a cat flap. Just DON'T ask. NOT a happy bunny, had to cancel plans for today because otherwise the cat could get locked out in the freezing cold. AND it's snowing AGAIN.

It's the mechanism which I THINK has got frozen solid (and that's inside it). On the other hand it might be broken. :x Poor cat has bruised nose from battering against it at 3am trying to get in!!

It's REALLY snowing a lot here. It makes me laugh, if you look at the BBC weather it says it's sunny!! We've had about 2 cm in the last 10 mins...

And no, LAT, my head wasn't stuck in it, but I WAS outside on the patio armed with a magnet in my pyjamas in the snow trying to make it work!!
