yep, we've a friend there who's said she's got flu because the weather is so changeable - from cold and wet to hot...

Glad you had a good time, even if the journey home was a little longer than expected!

faffing about! Watched Harry Potter with the bug and Miss N. in the morning. Had to keep telling them who was who and what was going on....I do wish people would READ THE BLOODY BOOKS I gave them.

From there it was pressy shopping for the nieces and nephews then off to get one for Miss N. (I made her wrap them all-nasty girl that I am)

Over to my favorite puzzle shop to pick up a few new toys and to meet a kid who flew in from Singapore to meet me  (why they keep doing this I have no idea-silly kids con their parents into expensive flights thinking some of my puzzle hunting luck will rub off on them, or that I'll be extra nice since they are in town and take them to my favorite hiding places~NOT A CHANCE  )

Bug wanted a jigsaw puzzle, and I thought the US$80 pricetag was just too much  I mean, for that price you shouldn't have to do the work right? Disappointment at that price meant another shopping center that has another puzzle store in it, and two train switches to get there. She found not one, but two that she wanted so we picked them up and headed off home.

Well guess who got to put the darned puzzle together? Mom and Miss N. that's who. Have I ever mentioned that I hate those things??? Well, I do. Give me a nice twisty puzzle or a disentanglement and I'm happy. Jigsaw puzzles! Bah! What was I thinking when I said yes?

Got home and had 2 boxes waiting for me. Yeah! More puzzles! Boo! I had to put them together. Well those aren't getting done any time soon are they?

One am and I was staring up at the ceiling feeling guilty for not finishing that silly jigsaw. I am so glad I took this week off to relax

... feeling sorry for myself.

On Friday I slipped on the ice, fractured and dislocated my ankle, had to have an operation and was only let out yesterday evening.

I hate being on crutches. Balance was never my strong point and I feel so vulnerable now. Not to mention that if someone had told me I was going to spend the next 6 weeks on crutches, I'd have done a crash course in upper body strength. I'm knackered - and all I've done is wobbled from my bedroom to my loo three times today!

Still, I did get the choice of the colour of my cast - so I went for a very bright festive red.

Although they had internet access at the hospital, I was blocked from accessing this forum (!) and obviously couldn't print off the puzzles, so I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Did you miss your audition? I hope not.

Do get well as fast as you possibly can. And take care in the meantime. Thinking of you.

Oh poor you! At least you have some puzzles to keep your mind occupied. My Mum broke a couple of bones in her ankle a few years ago and was very wobbly on her crutches. I took her to our local hospital and they swapped the crutches for a zimmer frame, which made her more stable, and she sent me out for a typists chair, which she used to scoot round the downstairs of her house. (pushing herself along backwards with the zimmer frame!)

Yes, I did miss my audition. But so did a lot of other people, I think, because of the snow. So there's been another one arranged for January. I just have to summon up the courage to venture out of the house on crutches.

I'm sure things will get better - probably by the end of the 6 weeks I'll be hopping around like a maniac!

I managed to get up the stairs on my bum last night - and I guess going down them will be a lot easier with the help of gravity. :D I was told not to use my wheeled office chair though, which is a pain in that it swivels so I could reach lots of things without having to get up.

I keep trying to tell myself I'm a wuss and that if the 80-year-old lady in the next bed thought she could manage stairs, I shouldn't be complaining!

For showers put a large poly bag over the cast, as it begins to heal you should feel less wobbly

Take care

Oh dear Dramaticat! That really is a tale of woe, poor thing. Hope it mends fast!

...I've been to Essex to visit my Dad and to visit the solicitor about all the complicated house stuff. I was dreading it - since my road is still impassable I had assumed it was the same everywhere else. Not so. My brother picked me up from the main road, and as soon as we got out of our town the roads were REALLY clear, and even the grass only had a couple of inches of snow on it! Phew, is all I can say.

Oh Dramaticat, I am sorry to hear that. :( What a pain just before Christmas too. I had been wondering about you as I hadn't seen you around for a while, now I know why!

I do hope you start to feel more able and stable soon. Also that everything heals as it should.

I couldn't get on to the forum to let you all know what had happened.

Made my first unsupervised trip back from the loo this afternoon. I suppose that's progress :D

Oh and did I mention the injections I'm supposed to give myself in the stomach and they were just going to chuck me out without even showing me how to do it until a student nurse took pity on me? I still don't think I can do it. Luckily Ian was also watching and is willing to have a go. I've got to have them for four weeks. I think I'll change my name to pincushion!

Sorry to hear of you accident, hope your ankle heals well and quickly.
I know what you mean about upper body strength needed before using crutches.
I presume your injections are for stopping blood clots, very nasty things (both).

Gosh it doesn't get any better does it Dramaticat?
If the injections are the same as my boss had when he got DVT then you can expect to look very bruised too. :(
Good for Ian though for volunteering to help.

Yes, that is really nasty. I'm not convinced I could bring myself to inject myself either!

I have to go on record right now and say how much I love my husband for giving me an almost pain-free injection tonight. :D

I understand the importance of the injections, but that's why I don't understand why we wouldn't have got any 'training' unless we asked for it.

And I was just unlucky enough to get the consultant who prefers prescribing the injections to the tablets!
