Re: Cats
Bunnylump - you just called your cat sensible! That is just how I would describe a cat you say jumps onto the bed from the top of the wardrobe in the night.
But poor Mum's cat.
It must be very strange and frightening for him.

He's on their waiting list (and has been for 3 months). He is also on the Animal Rescue waiting list.

Hey, that's rotten Dramaticat - not the sort of drama you expected when you chose your name!dramaticat wrote:On Friday. Half an hour sitting on the snow until the ambulance came, and then 7 hours at the hospital with a wet bum. Not recommended

I think I was most worried about people thinking I had some sort of bladder problem
Anyway, my cat is now looking after me, although he runs away as soon as he sees the crutches - which is actually no bad thing.

Re: Cats
OMG
Just got an update on Yoyo. He is apparently quiet but has eaten something today (I was worried about that - at A's mum's he didn't eat for a week) but here's the major SHOCK HORROR REPORT...
HE is a SHE!!!
He (now she) came to my Mum as a stray about 6 years ago. She had taken him to the vet a couple of times for de-fleaing and worming but always thought that he was a boy. He (she) LOOKS like a boy cat - huge, with a big thick neck and massive great big paws. But apparently not!!
I'm finding that really hard to get my head round!

Re: Cats
I had the most bizarre experience this morning.
I heard the catflap clatter like it had been taken off its hinges and the sound of my cat running faster than I'd ever heard before. When I checked, he was sitting on the stairs - I don't know how else to describe it - like he'd seen a ghost. His fur wasn't bushy, so I don't think he'd been in a fight. He seemed totally shocked and dazed. Then he wandered into the dining room quite tentatively and didn't want to know me. I couldn't see any obvious injuries when he was walking, but he wasn't moving around like his normal self.
A little later he came upstairs and jumped up on my lap for a cuddle. Then he proceeded to walk across the desk to sit on the window ledge and look out of the window. I still couldn't see anything obviously wrong. He then jumped down from the desk and put himself to sleep on his chair - much earlier in the morning that is normal.
I'm now worried he's been hurt and I can't tell. It's even more worrying because Ian is having a cataract operation tomorrow, so we can't get to a vet. I really hope he's only been scared by something - but I've never seen a cat look like that in my life!

Re: Cats
I'd suggest that your cat might have been stung. That sounds just like how my cat behaves when she's been stung. I've seen a few bumble bees around, so it could just be that.
My cat's just totally freaked out by the new member of the family (tortoise!)She can't get her head around the reason for this mobile bun...

Re: Cats
Yes, same here. I have two friends who've had that op. It sounds grim, but they were both pleasantly surprised at how straightforward it was and how quickly they recovered. So here's hoping it's the same for Ian.

Re: Cats
...Oh, and btw I meant to post this picture of my niece's cat. You can't see in the photo but the cat only has 3 legs. It was the CAT'S idea to get inside the plastic bag, and then refused to be removed.

Pretty cat
Oh, and my husband had cataract surgery plus laser eye treatment a couple of years ago. He woke up to find he could see further than three inches without glasses or lenses for the first time in about 40 years. And he recovered very quickly from it too.

Re: Cats
Stung! It could be - as I've just found an almost-dead wasp on my office floor.
Boo Cat seems to be back to normal today. He was sick in the night - I think it was a fur ball, so perhaps that had something to do with it, or may be it was just a reaction to what had happened. I have (tried) to have a good feel all over his body when he jumps up on my lap. He's not in any obvious pain anywhere. I will keep an eye on him just in case.
Just like I'm keeping an 'eye' on Ian - everything went well. Ian said he was counting the seconds off as the surgery was happening and it took all of two and a half minutes! He has to wear this opaque plastic eye patch until tomorrow (boo! I thought he was coming home with a nice black pirate one
) and he's very frustrated because he can't see out of it between the micropore that's keeping it on. He just wants to see everything properly, instead of the six images he was getting before the op!
He even decided not to have the tranquiliser he'd opted for - I think I needed it more than him
