Yes thank you. It was impossible to access for about a day and a half and then seemed to sort itself out. I'm not sure if I did something to cure it or not.

Well, I wouldn't like to say I was a clever s*d, or that I know anything about Toshiba laptops, but if it's the same as mine you click that little white arrow on a blue button on the bottom right of your screen, that opens up more little icons, and if you hover your mouse over them there is one which says volume. Move the bar up by clicking and holding as you move it.

Sorry, don't know then. How about using headphones?

You could pretend to do street dancing to it to keep them guessing...

Sometimes there is another volume control if you are watching a video on the box with the picture in it.

I have a toshiba too. I have the same problem with BBC broadcasts. Everything up full and you can barely hear it.

I'm going along with Giraffe here - always remember you have the volume control on the computer AND a seperate control on the site you are visiting. Make sure the computer one is full then fine-tune it with the site volume slider.

Does anyone use twitter? I'm not sure I get it. How do you send someone a message?

Not really. Part of my latest sad obsession. But I would like to know how it's done.

What happens if you google "how to tweet" ? Or does the tweety place not have instructions for new twits?

Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to tell you, unless I'm missing something (which I quite probably am).

Is it very sad to want to send a message to someone famous? I have a vague and worrying feeling that no sane person would want to do this, but plenty of other people on twitter seem to. But then, they might all be barking mad.

Anyhoo, shall google and see what that says.

I thought you tweeted into the ether, rather than aiming it at a person. (But then I don't know anything about it  )

Yeah, that's what I thought too, until I went on and read stuff, and people seem to send messages directly to other people as well as general updates about themselves. I think, having read it all, that if someone 'follows' you, you can send them a message, but not the other way round. For example, if I wanted to follow Stephen Fry, which it would seem everyone does, then he could send me a message (yeah right!!) but I couldn't send him one.

It's all very complicated, and probably not really worth the effort I've put into researching it.
