Yes, well they might!
My daughter did something on trees I think. I know we went out for a walk one day and she got me taking loads of photos of different trees for the preparation work. Best advice is to pick something she will enjoy doing so it won't feel a chore.

I got taken out for lunch today to a Japanese fish restaurant. Most of it was lovely but there was a side dish of raw fish. I tried several bits but drew the line at what looked like a raw baby octopus. As we left the restaurant a really old man who was polishing glasses behind the counter said "tank you ferry much" to me. :D

This evening was better as we went to a Korean barbecue restaurant so I was able to make sure everything relevant was cooked to my liking.

They are looking after me very well and I think we will achieve quite a bit, workwise, too. :D

Well if you find yourself with a blunt pencil you could try out some Japanese. Empitzu kazuri (Just about the only thing Lally has taught me so far....means pencil sharpener!)  Mind you the only three words Kingsley taught me in her three years of studying Russian were Floor, ceiling and parrot. Let's hope I never get stranded in Russia.

Really? I genuinely only know the story atrtributed to Giotto. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that it had been associated with other artists though.

A perfect hand-drawn circle? Yup, I'd guess that might take around ten hours to get even vaguely right... :D
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.

Yep, exactly that. Exactly. Verbatim.

Some of the pupil's work at school is on display in the block where I work. We are an "Arts College" (whatever that might mean) but I must say that some of the kid's work is fantastic. There is one which is sort of textured, (in relief if you know what I mean) of a woman in a glittery boob tube with her hands behind her head. It's bizarrely fascinating and slightly erotic, which seems an odd thing to have displayed in a school corridor. Really brilliantly done though, I must say. There is also a complete set of blocks covered in all kinds of buttons and sweets - that's really unusual and eyecatching too.

Had a off work today. After dropping my sister off at work and was driving back , I saw a gorgeous sun rise over the Erskine Bridge, and the River Clyde looked fantastic as it was bathed in Golden light. I was cursing myself for leaving my camera at home.

Uploaded some photographs to Snapfish to start making a photobook of my October trip to Limburg in Holland. Tomorrow we're off into Glasgow to spend my booktokens that I got for my birthday, and we will try to get into Jamie Oliver's new restraunt. It opened in August and as you cannot book I think the crowds will have died down by now. Looking forward to that

:D Sounds wonderful, Tricia. I spent the day trying to make myself do HOUSEWORK.

However, the good news is that I won £25 on the premium bonds. :D

............ walking round Tokyo.

I first walked to the Imperial Palace gardens and walked round them then I mastered the intricacies of the Tokyo subway system and made my way to Ueno Park.
As well as the park itself to enjoy there are several shrines and various museums. The Museum of Western art had an enlarged (!) statue of Rodin's kiss outside it but I didn't go in other than to get lunch. I did however go to the Tokyo National Museum which is vast. One floor of the main building is given over to an exhibition on Highlights of Japanese Art and it was really interesting. Unfortunately it was getting near closing time by the time I had finished looking round this so I didn't do much more than pop into a small exhibit on rabbits in art. It made me think of a certain friend! :D

I even managed a bit of shopping afterwards then made my way (by subway again) back to the hotel.
I am absolutely exhausted and have just noticed that the blister on my little toe is almost as big as the toe itself! :(

Still, I've had some supper in a little restaurant near the hotel. They even had an Ingrish menu. (at least I think that is what the waiter called it :D ) And now I am drinking tea and typing this drivel.

I took about 50 today. Not sure how good they'll be though. Whenevr I turn my camera so that it is 'portrait' I seem to get it at an angle so I think most of the temples will look like they are leaning.

Ah well, I'm sure you'll still get the memories from them. It'd be lovely if you could post a few when you get back so that we can all drool and feel envious!!  (Even if they are all wonky, I'm sure we'll get the idea!)

Will do! I might even post some tomorrow night but I'm conserving my camera batteries till I see what we do tomorrow (and therefore haven't downloaded any yet). I am being taken out by a couple of the girls in the office. I'm not sure what they have planned for me :D

really looking forward to your pics, LAT. That sounds like a fab day. Glad you're getting time for things like that. Definitely worth the blisters! (I can safely say that, not being the one with blisters)

.... spending a pleasant morning at the park with Thomas's cousin. They play so well together :)

We've also just picked up Thomas's first bike! Can you believe he's old enough to have one already! Well, actually it's still too big for him, but it can stay out of the way until Christmas. Couldn't resist - there's a chap works at the Council's Works Depot who collects all that sort of thing that are handed in to go to the tip, refurbishes them and then gives them away for free! How good is that? He's told us to let him know when Thomas is outgrowing this bike and he'll get him another. It's in really good condition considering it was being chucked out.

Sounds like you are having fun Lat. Looking forward to the pictures.

Today I got £80 punds of books for £8.00, I have now spent all my birthday tokens. I have got stefan reynaud's book 365 reasons to sit down and eat,Monty,s Ryder cup, a Kare Moss book Sepulchre anf a Teach Yourself Dutch course! Afterwards we walked down to George Square In Glasgow, and watched a demonstration against the cuts. We then crossed the road and found ourselves first in the queue for Jamie's Italian.

It was great, and had a fantastic atmosphere. You could watch some of the staff making the pasta in large past machines, and they had a large range of specialty breads on show, part baked on the premises. The staff were all very young and knew their jobs well. The food was also very nice.

Definitely one to go back to in the evening - hopefuly even catch a glimpse of Jamie Oliver himself if he is visiting!

all in all a very nice day :D
