How's this for men?

Well, I would say pretty typical. My son (obviously now a manlet) booked his train tickets to come here for 2 weeks without realising he'd managed to miss the Easter weekend. So we're having Easter this Sunday instead!! He's also left writing up his research project, two essays and all his exam revision until now. I'm trying SO hard to NOT panic...

Although I must say that OH is not a typical man in the organisation of time scenario. He has a page a day diary which he writes EVERYTHING in (in beautifully neat block capitals, I may add, not the spidery scrawl there is in mine). Maybe he's a secret woman and I just haven't noticed all these years? He does leave the house in a tip though.

Realised at about 5pm that it's my wedding anniversary.

The carpy day just continued. Went to the wine rack, and guess what? There was only white wine in there (which I don't like). Now have a splitting headache. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the tortoise is sleeping peacefully having worn himself out rampaging around the neighbourhood.

... kna****ed. I've been cutting down bits of tree from above my head with long handled loppers and a saw. I have never ached so much in my life. I feel every year of my 50 years. What a beautiful day though!!!

Belated congratulations to Giraffe. April must be a good month as today is my anniversary. I can't believe it's our ruby. We are going out for a meal with the family tomorrow night and I hope by then I will have managed one of these puzzles. I think my brain has stopped working.

Thanks Giraffe. For the first time we both forgot to buy each other a card so last night we agreed not to bother. OH now says it has only taken him 40 years to get me to give up on cards. We gave up on valentine cards long ago. Aren't we romantic?

We've never done Valentines day as it is only two days before my birthday, and so seems a bit pointless to celebrate twice in one week. Before we had the children we always used to go out to dinner on the 15th Feb, to celebrate it being half way between Valentines and my birthday. Easier to get a booking at a restaurant than on the 14th too.

My OH used to paint me a picture or write me a poem or a song instead of a valentine's card / anniversary card. These days he doesn't usually have the time, so it's back to a card with a nice picture on it instead, but not the usual purpose built stuff.

I've just got home from the theatre where we saw "To Kill a Mocking Bird". it was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very cleverly staged and well acted.

Oh only in Woking. But it's a good theatre there, pretty comfortable too.

I like tunnbridge wells - especially the Pantiles- there used to be a lovely kitchen shop there ....don't know if its still there..but the water is disgusting.

P.S Olly was funny today - I was sitting in my chair and was just about to open up my laptop, when he jumped up. He suddenly stopped and hunkered down and stared at the screen - he had seen his reflection . he stared at the screen and then to the side his hackles raised. He then jumped down and went looking for the other cat..Silly boy!

(Scurra, shut your ears, I know you won't approve )...having an early "Easter". Since we're all Devil worshippers we decided that it would be ok to "move" Easter Sunday, since my useless son and useless nephew won't be here for the day itself. So today we have been painting and decorating eggs (this year there was a leprechaun, a "snow covered" one, a bright green one covered in "jewels" and lots more). Said eggs have then been lobbed down a hill on Berkhamsted common with much hilarity, and we all had a nice picnic whilst admiring the fine view and listening to the skylarks twittering away. We then had a walk in the sunshine and the "kids" tried to kill themselves by "tossing the caber" (random logs left lying around).

And yes, I do know this actually has nothing to do with Easter, and no I'm not really a Devil worshipper!!

I have lots of holiday due to me from 2010 which should in theory be taken by the end of this month at the latest. So I decided yesterday to ask for today off. As well as having various things I needed/wanted to do I thought I could actually have a look at the MUMs puzzles during the day instead of having to wait until the evening when the easy ones have usually been solved. And then I found I couldn't even open any of the google docs to join in.

And my washing machine seems to have sprung a leak.
