Yeah, trouble making Giraffe...  It's all your fault. Mind you, as I've just said to Sparkout (by pm this time) at least we've just been posting pms. I've actually accidentally logged on as Gill before now and sent a message to her. I got my message straight back and that's what made me realise what I'd done. The best part was that Gill was also logged on, and suddenly received a message from herself which she HADN'T SENT.  I haven't laughed so much for MANY years.

Just in case anyone is wondering how that can happen- I had previously logged in using Bunny's machine and Fraggle had used mine. We musn't have logged out when we were done.

Yes there was absolutely no panic and it was the DVP site that this happened on. :D

No, with mine it was because I had mine set up to remember my password. And bizarrely it remembered yours as well. But I've got a different laptop now so don't worry, I won't be in sending mischievous messages to Scurra from your pm telling him you think he has a nice bum. (How I WISH I'd thought of that before!!!!! )

I had to quote this so that I could read it. I thought for one moment you might be commenting about Scurra's bum...
You need to get down there in person, Giraffe, and get proper scary with them. I'm usually far too nice to people who offer a rubbish service. But eventually, enough is enough. Last people who prompted me to get "proper scary" were Southern Electric. They won't forget that in a hurry. I ended up getting a representative officially reprimanded, and a whole team of reps subjected to re training. It's amazing what you get done when you mention that you've contacted their regulatory body...

...Who regulates bus companies, I wonder??

-First call today the man couldn't tell me what the fare was supposed to be but would call me back in a few minutes.
-3 hours later I rang them back and asked what the fare was, spoke to the woman I spoke to on Tues and now she told me it is £2.25 (Increase of over 60% since Feb) but they weren't informed by head office until yesterday.
-The two vouchers for free journeys promised on Tuesday arrived. (result!)
- The kids were charged £2 tonight for an "open child ticket" No idea what one of those is. :?

I don't think they know what they are doing.

Being fed up because my husband's had to go on yet another course which is now insisted on by the government. This one has cost us £1000. The trouble with his line of business is that he works with refrigeration, gas AND electrics. So we get clobbered for the courses for all three. The thing is, I can see that they want to ensure that everyone is safe and is doing a good job. What I don't get is why they can't just give them an exam and check their work periodically? Obviously that would be completely fine (he's been doing this for 30 years, and ALWAYS learns about everything thoroughly, so it flipping well should be!!). But instead they force people to pay for stupid unnecessary courses, which means that they can't work for a week (so you can add a whole week's business to that cost too). What are they trying to do? Put small businesses OUT of business?

Sorry, I seem to spend quite a lot of my life on this thread recently...

Yes, me again. Whinging again.

I worked from 8 30 to 3 30 today, then came home and CONTINUED working from 4pm until 10 30 pm. That's pretty impressive for being paid for 5 hours, don't you think?

yes. So remind us, why do you do it?

Didn't you say that you had written a letter to the effect that you were no longer work unpaid overtime, do work that wasn't in your job spec etc?

You are too conscientious for your own good you know!

Because if I don't do this, it's the KIDS who suffer.  I think I'll go and get a job sweeping floors somewhere instead. Or perhaps I could start selling body parts by the kilo. I'd be rich.

Oh Bunny, I hear you and feel your pain!
I bust my bum during the year (yes, all 24 weeks of it) doing massive amounts of extra work and classes so I don't have to teach during summer. We are contracted to 96 hours during summer term, and even though it is only 6 weeks, I went into teaching so I could have my 3 months summer vacation

Well, this year I screwed up and got stuck teaching 24 hours during summer. (I am so bad at math, I can't even count to 96  good thing I teaches englishe) And because I'm here, my line manager volunteered me to do an additional 32 hours of advising sessions. I told her to volunteer herself in a few choice words, then realized the students were the ones who would be hurt because she was just going to cancel rather than put her own lazy bum in that chair! So guess who is now doing 56 hours over summer. I'll be so glad come June 24 when I officially go on leave early because I'm too lazy to mark any more exams!

To make matters worse, I'm presenting at two different conferences on two different continents (doesn't that sound exotic :D ) so I have to cram that 24 hours into a week and a half instead of the normal 3 weeks. Those poor kids. That's like 4 hours of Rox per day or some such. When I get back, it's the same thing, only I'm stuck in a room smaller than my bath simply waiting for those kids to show up late for their appointments  and of course I can't leave until I've ticked the bloody box saying they have talked with me now can I?

And the damnedest thing is, I just got two grants and decided to use some of the money to buy out my teaching. Bugger all if they won't let me do it until September term! And those extra 'volunteered' hours? I get to eat them because they can't carry over until September. I'd like to kill the cow in charge of my current team

But the silver lining? I got two sizable government grants and get to buy out a boatload of teaching hours! And guess who I am not buying hours from? So guess who is switching teams? LOL I refuse to give that cow any hours down after she added on to my summer! So that means she's down a team member and has to adjust hours all around (including her own!) Don't mess with a ticked off me.

Ok, enough complaining-back to my numbers. (I have to make these things work somehow, and I can't even count to 96   This is going to be fun)
