Sorry I can't commit until later in the summer. I have no idea whether we will be free to travel that weekend because of K and her Saturdays at the Conservatoire. I did ask someone who is already there and they said it varies what happens at half terms. Hopefully they will send me some term dates soon, otherwise we won't know when term starts!

22nd fine for me, but I'm not keen on driving / travelling down there on my own.

Back end of October is a lot better for me than start of August. I'm crossing my fingers again and thinking of plans for this time. [When I know more, I'll let you know  ]

Now then Mr Web slinger. Just put your foot down with a firm hand and tell all those who like to prevail upon your time that you are coming. :D I'll even buy you a ticket. :D

Surely you put a foot down with a firm foot, not hand? :?

LAT and I are meeting up the week after next to plot what awful things we're going to subject you all to on 6th August.

So, sometime in the next week, I need a defiitive list of who's coming please, who is driving, and an estimated earliest time of arrival. :D It would also be helpful to know if anyone has any restrictions on how far they can walk or if they have any dietary restrictions. If anyone has to stay over then I need to know that too, so that I can investigate local bed and breakfasts.

At the moment, we are considering a trail, lunch at a pub, maybe a bit more trail (including things to visit) and then possibly (if anyone is still around) another something to eat and then home. But not necessarily in that order. The area I am proposing is within about a half hour drive from junction 20 of the M25. I can pick folk up from the station if needed (but can only personally carry 4 in my car, although I suspect that there will be others who could oblige).

I'm coming, I'm driving. Car has 7 seats, but I will be in one! It will take me maybe a couple of hours to get there and when I get there depends on when I leave here! No dietry wotsits, unless you are intending to eat curry, in which case I will bring a picnic.

No, curry is not essential to the plan.

I should perhaps also add that hiking is also not essential, just in case that put anyone off.

 And if you can't eat fish, then you're a rubbish penguin.

OK so SO FAR we have to avoid fish, curry and rollerblading. (Gill's toe). Oh, and issuing BB with a giant map on his motorbike (even though it could well end up doubling as a giant parachute when he accidentally drives over the edge of Ivinghoe Beacon... )

I think we still have plenty to be working with. :D

Just in case anyone missed this crucial announcement on the Today I've mostly bin thread, there is no major hike planned and there WILL be cake, come what may.

It's also looking possible that a couple of people might be staying over nearby. If they do, then we might go out for something to eat / drink locally in the evening if we aren't all lost somewhere in Ashridge.  If this does happen, and anyone else is interested in staying over too, I'll post some possible places to stay. (Sorry, I live in a shoebox and don't have anywhere to put folk up as my shoebox is now bursting full of twentysomethings and all their junk. )

I can now confirm definite attendance on 6th - staying over with Scurra on 5th, so would need to be picked up along with him on Saturday morning from the station, please.... Can you confirm actually where that is, please, (and the preferred time of arrival!) so that I can investigate train tickets?
I guess that we all need a bit more detail now about an official rendezvous place and time?

It will be great to meet up with everyone and be able to put a few more faces to names....
just as long as I end up with the non-curry group...... :o

Is that the anti-curry pro-cake group?

Kathlyn, if Hazel does a lemon drizzle cake are you coming? ;) (I can offer a lift)

Right I need to know exactly where the meet is taking place. Sorry - having a blonde moment here. But have to try to get a boat. We need to see if this is viable cos we're trying to buy a campervan and Im seriously working out funds here.
