Re: I'm Busy Reading....
For the last few days I've been reading Shall We Tell The President by Jeffrey Archer. It's been a bit surreal as the story is on a day to day basis and it has coincided with the exact day and dates for this week.

Re: I'm Busy Reading....
One of the online books I'm reading is a Buffy/Potter crossover set back between Harry's birth and his parent's death. No Buffy (obviously), and it involves the two seperate types of magic - HP world and Buffy world. [Neither practitioners knew the other existed].
Just wanted to share this wonderful quote that suggests Dumbledore would have been a good member of this site:

Just wanted to share this wonderful quote that suggests Dumbledore would have been a good member of this site:
A quick survey of his pockets produced a pencil, several packets of sweets and a book of acrostic puzzles. All the necessities of life, conveniently at hand. Albus popped a sherbet lemon into his mouth, opened the book to a random page, and settled down to wait.
He was half-way through his fourth puzzle when Severus awakened with a start, flinging one arm out and knocking the pillow to the floor.
"Wha-- Headmaster?" He sat up slowly and carefully, as if the movement hurt, and pushed his hair back from his face. "How long have I been asleep?"
"Not long," Albus told him cheerfully. "I've been so engrossed in these puzzles, I've hardly noticed. I say, do you know a twelve-letter word for "disarming speech"?"
"Expelliarmus."

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

What do you mean - just for Thomas - I think there's a few people around here (myself included) that would like the junior version at the momentclvrlad wrote:you mean he's not doing a junior puzzle brains just for you??

Re: I'm Busy Reading....
Yes please. Could I have it along with a holiday pack too?
And Eirian - I remember those days. K liked "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" and we had to read it to her about 6 times a day for a year. I can still recite it word for word...
D was "Peepo" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". Mind you, K was given a VHC mug for her last birthday, and has a version in FRENCH which she reads to her class...

Re: I'm Busy Reading....
Mine loved Topsy and Tim at that age, and I could probably still recite a few of those books ...
Re: I'm Busy Reading....
My K used VHC for her children when she was teaching in France - but she used the English version for them of course.
And yes, I too remember the books we had to read endlessly when they were little. I could still recite some of them too. Favourite bedtime book (for us) was one called Panda which was only about 4 lines long.

Other favourites....Ten tall giraffes! Edward goes exploring, You can swim jim. I painted all the animals from Ten tall giraffes around the walls of Lally's first bedroom. They had wonderfully daft expressions on their faces.

I also loved "Going on a Bear Hunt", which I used to chant to Janet's daughter. She wanted me to do that EVERY time she saw me!

Re: I'm Busy Reading....
I'll never forget Thomas, lying on his back on Wulfruna's sofa, holding VHC above him, warbling away as if he was reading it.
I've got all beatrix potter's ready (only reading Miss Moppet & Fierce Bad Rabbit at the moment) as well as Winnie the Pooh, but our current bedtime favourite (as opposed to Unfortunately and Dinosaurs which are in the living room) apart from the aforesaid Moppet & Rabbit, is The Guffalo. And yes, I can recite quite a few of the books, and usually have to as Thomas is usually turning the pages forward and backwards faster than I can read.

Well I hope nobody makes a puzzle out of it or that's one I'll never find a starting place inSparkOut wrote:Nah MBH - I can still recite every hiding place for all the pigs when "Wobbly Pig is Counting"
Funny how a little thing like not having kids (or other people's young family) can leave you out of a whole section of reading.
[OK - i'll admit to flicking through the Gruffalo because of the cool monster on the front

Do you know HOW DARK it is out there in the garden? I couldn't even find the blasted creepy crawly never mind ask if it had an alibi for the alleged food consumption
