The photo competition 5. Puzzled
Although I think most people looked like this for most of the day...

Re: The photo competition 5. Puzzled
I am SERIOUSLY puzzled as to why my cake, which looked like this on Friday evening........ended up with every colour running into itself, then me having to scrape all the icing off, try to replace it with different topping (which, by this time had gone all lumpy and disgusting).
I refused to let anyone look at it, and hid it under a piece of foil while I cut it up.

But it tasted wonderful anyway!
It's such a shame the colours ran as the cake looked absolutely amazing in the photo. So glad you took a pic so that we could admire your handiwork.

There's no point in having a last minute if you don't use it!

Regarding the cake, the only thing I can think of is that you didn't let the white icing dry properly first before you put the other colours on top of it.
If it was still slightly soft, the other colours would dissolve into it and the neat design would become a blurry mess.

Yes, that happened to one of mine once - using some really bright red icing onto white icing that was not quite totally dry (well it seemed ok when I touched it...) - blurry colour spread all around - and there's nothing I could do to salvage the mess by then. However, I'm so glad you took the photo of it first, Bunny, so that we could appreciate your brilliant efforts. And we wouldn't have spent very long admiring it on Saturday - it was far too yummy not to demolish it straight away
