Re: England riots
She could always call on her Uncle Scurra to help her...
She's a sensible girl, Giraffe. If it looks like it's calming down tonight I would have thought she would be ok, and long as she's cautious. It might be an idea to give her "emergency" cab money just in case she ends up somewhere that looks a bit iffy.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

Re: England riots
She should be with a group of friends. One of the girls has agreed to meet her at Euston and I have met the boy who has offered to put them up overnight and he seemed quiet and sensible.

I've never been to the Albert Hall myself, so with K's talents and interests it would be a shame if she didn't get there when she has the chance. Sounds like there's plenty offers of emergency assistance here in the forum
Re: England riots
She's gone. Tried not to frighten the wits out of her by being paranoid parent, but have asked for a text when she's met up with her priends and when she gets to house after concert. Have warned her not to get her phone out in public (not that it's a posh one) to beware of people unzipping her bag etc. She's never caught a train on her own, so hopefully the common sense that is usually conspicuous by its absence will surface.
Re: England riots
Just had a text to say friend's mum has picked them up and the concert was amazing. (Where's the "phew!" smiley?)
Re: England riots
Sounds like you made the right decision to let her go then!
Glad she had a good time.
Glad she had a good time.
Re: England riots
That's the problem though, you're 99% certain there won't be a problem , but the 1% doesn't bear thinking about. Didn't dare tell my Mum that she had gone, I'd never have heard the end of it!
Re: England riots
You can sleep well tonight! Glad K had a good time
Re: England riots
Sounds as if you gave her some very sensible advice, without going over the top. That is one of the advantages of today's communications - just asking for a text to say they've arrived, and then to say that they are ok afterwards is a very small request without sounding as if you are trying to check up on every move. Glad that it worked so well
