Are those the ones advertised on the telly eg. chilli and chocolate? I think fernando wants to try them all, but I think they look disgusting. One of my friends at school had the 'builder's breakfast' variety and took one bite before offering them round to everyone else. We all thought she was being really kind until we took a bite and realised that she was offering them round so that she wouldn't have to eat them herself!

They are indeed. I bought a pack of each for myself too. Onion Bhaji are nice. Chili and chocolate are weird. Hot, and leave the same smoothness in your mouth that chocolate does. They went in the bin. I'm going to have to think hard before trying cajun squirrel. Maybe the packets will become collectors items if I leave them un-opened.

Laying laminate flooring in my daughters bedroom. And, guess what!!! She actually helped.

She did all the selecting of the boards, and all the measuring, and even helped locating the boards as I hammered. WOW. :o  :o

When we moved into our house one of the bedrooms had laminate flooring (which is a pet hate of mine) and Fernando was so excited, and wouldn't let us buy a carpet. The first night he got into bed (leapt into bed?) and the bed, which was on castors, shot across the room and his bear fell out. He hated it! Within days we were ordering a carpet.

Today I've mostly bin...
... recovering from my first night behind a bar in about 8-years.

The local Cricket Club (from my previous house) asked me to come back for the night as they were short staffed and had a band playing a gig there.

Old faces (often with stunned expressions  at seeing me), and new till to deal with. I was always used to adding up prices as I went - but this stupid till has all the drinks written on but too damn small for me to see... it also means you have to give drinks / go to till / return with total price / take money to till then return change. Far more complex than slapping the drinks down, telling them the total, and dealing with the cash.

ALL the physical skills were still there - including the throwing around and catching of the glasses [they called me 'The Juggler' LONG before that upstart Tom Cruise came along]. It was the stupid little things that threw me - like changing all the colours of the crisp packet (Blue should be Salt & Vinegar, NOT Cheese & Onion).

A good night out - nice young lady to work with - decent music to hear (although it made a mockery of taking orders) - money in my pocket - and the possibility of more. My body had just forgotten how to be on it's feet, active, and 'working' for over 4.5 hours at a stretch.

Unless you've always eaten Walker's crisps, in which case Cheese & Onion has to be blue, and Salt & Vinegar must be green. I don't know why other crisp manufacturers put them the other way round.

This is indeed a very serious topic. This illustrates perfectly what I mean.

 Since I only eat Ready Salted crisps, I never knew this brand was different. Obviously this was not the brand they used to buy when I last worked there. :(

The evening did make me think about having to take 'control' of your thought processes. I was aware of needing to ignore the prices I was seeing on the pumps and having to concentrate on the NAMES of the drinks (some of which I didn't know or recognise -- LOTS more bottles these days). This turned the job from a maths based challenge that my brain is suited to into an English/Memory challenge that I'm getting increasingly worse at. :( :(

Still - nice to know I've still got the moves :)

And don't forget Walkers are a relative newcomer to the crisp market.
Smiths were the original --national distribution that is -- followed by Golden Wonder who I worked for over 40 years ago.
None of the 'flavours' are genuine, all are produced in hi tech labs out of all sorts of 'e' numbers and ensure that anyone who has seen the processes will only eat ready salted!

And on another topic having watched Mission Impossible on the box tonight can I say how much safer and more rational a driver than Tom Cruise is MBH

I only eat Tyrrells Naked Crisps (no salt) or their mixed veg ones.

Only in the pub do I occasionally eat plain salted crisps.

I'm glad to see that only 344 have signed the Walkers petition. They have it right, it is the others that have it wrong. Where I was brought up (Midlands) Walkers was about the only make avail;able, but when we moved to Sheffield, I think there was a make that had something to do with Bees which was everywhere. We'd never heard of them, but it was hard to find Walkers.

Here's Charlie Brooker in the Guardian on this subject.I've tried three of them. The Fish and Chips was utterly horrid (Fish-flavoured crisps?!) Cajun Squirrel was nearly as bad. The Duck and Hoisin Sauce was surprisingly good by comparison to the other two. But it was still pretty rubbish.

Then again, I quite like the Marmite-flavoured crisps. So my judgement is not perhaps the best.

(note: post edited because I clearly made a Freudian slip... I wonder if anyone spotted it?)

My favourite has been Marmite for yonks. Simply luv em.

The new Baked Mango Chilli are unusual and quite yummy.

Of the 6 new ones: Chilli & Choc is vile, Fisn n Chips is dissapointing, Builders Breakfast is very nice but too much bacon flavour really, Onion Baji is pointless (just stick to Cheese n Onion), Cajun Squirrel is yummy, but the best by far is the Duck and Hoisin. I really hope that one wins.

Oh yes, definitely Marmite for me too! Haven't tried any of these new flavours (trying really hard to be good) but they do sound fairly despicable. Maybe I'll try the Duck and Hoisin ones and then I can blame you lot if they're horrid.

If there's less than two spare pots of Marmite in the house then the automatic cupboard alert goes off here, it's that much a favourite - but the Marmite crisps... bleagh. As are almost all the "fancy" flavoured ones. And most of the "not so fancy" ones. Whoever invented the "nice 'n' spicy" flavour should be shot, and the marketers that included the word "nice" should all be strung up.
